RNG is fun as fuck.

I love this stupid ass character's stupid ass bullshit

the closest we may ever get to Goku in smash bros

My favorite character in the game. Not broken at all but very cheesy.

-1 Star because I can't feel good playing them competitively.
Remember kids, hoes mad originated because Dragon Quest fans got tired of Smash babies whining about Erdrick potentially getting in. Every other instance of it has been a not-as-funny copycat.

hoes mad was annoying and the 11 hero is one of the worse designs from the series but solo, eight, and loto/erdrick especially are fucking hype as hell. really interesting gimmick

III should have been the default -_-

Pretty underwhelming, not gonna lie.

this pack is what helped me to finally get into the Dragon Quest franchise and for that I'll be forever grateful. they could have easily given the Luminary eight alts but nah they went beyond that and included the DQIII, IV, and VIII Heroes into the mix each with their own voice actors and that's so dang cool. Yggdrasil's Altar is one of the best looking stages and that's saying a lot considering how beautiful a lot of the stages look in this game. Of course, Command Selection is the highlight. His other three specials are already great, but the sheer amount of madness that can happen with Command Selection is a glory to witness, especially when there's more than one Hero in the battle. my only two downsides is that we ended up getting the Synthetic versions of the DQ rather than the Symphonic versions and that we only ended up getting eight tracks when he could had much more, though I suppose the former is fixed if you can install mods.

overall, I love Hero, can't wait to play as Slime in Smash 6

The most hilarious character to ever grace Smash. Thwacking someone at zero is the funniest damn thing. Chaotic neutral the character.

Hero is the best character to play when you don't give a shit and just wanna have fun. I'm never gonna be master quickly swapping through moves and choosing deliberately for Hero's down B but I can't say it isn't exhilarating. Even getting Kamikaze can result in some good laughs whether it costs you the match or actually serves a purpose. I can definitely see this as being an iffy competitive pick, but I can't deny the fun factor for some casual fun.

As for the music and stage, I'm overall pretty neutral on it. I've never been particularly interested in Dragon Quest's theme but I will admit the stage looks pretty and I like the touch of the rare appearance of metal slimes.

Finally, Square Enix is less protective of their IPs in Smash1

El héroe es uno de los personajes con más ataques en el juego, son random, así que esta bien, los ataques normales son buenos y tiene un escenario interesante. De ahí en fuera lo considero un buen personaje.

my friend likes this guy so I'm rating him a half-star to piss him off

"What Do You Call Those Warriors With The Fancy Armor?"
– "Mom, There's A Lot Of Warriors With Fancy Armor"
"Oh Yeah... Well, He's A Gladiator!"

It's an Akira Toriyama designed character from a series with Dragon in the name and one of the alts is blue and orange.
Close enough

Even as a Dragon Quest fan, I wasn't too fond of the leaks about Erdrick being in prior to the reveal and would have rather had Eleven/The Luminary. I also was pretty much expecting him to be Generic Anime Swordsman #857 moveset-wise. When the trailer dropped I was blown away by the creativity in the Hero's moveset and the fact they not only added just Luminary and Erdrick but even the protagonists from DQ IV & VIII. I don't use Hero much but when I do, he is a fun character to play around with. The Luminary and the other heroes were honestly an amazing pick for Smash Bros due to their highly creative moveset and because of the Dragon Quest's contribution to the RPG genre. Smash is no longer just the "Nintendo fighting/party game," it is a celebration of video games as a whole.

the best one. if you disagree you're wrong, actually. also glad this finally gave dragon quest a boost overseas, it really needed that. Dragon Quest XII getting a simultaneous world-wide release probably only happened because of this, which is nuts! also really fun to play as

I always wished Smash Bros. had more content from the Mario Party series. It's such an iconic Mario subseries that not even having a stage to its name is baffling. I'm glad this Challenger Pack addresses my criticism with the game.

4* - i havent played enough dragon quest 11 (or dragon quest in general) to care about him but he's got funny rng moves that kill literally whenever, this game sucks lmfao

I'd say this character borders on parody of lame RPG reps but parodies are clever

Hero caused more chaos than the Civil War

Inclusion: Dragon Quest is an incredibly iconic series that absolutely deserves to be represented in Smash, but I'm not gonna lie, the way they went about it really does make it feel like it was done for the purpose of promotion for Dragon Quest XI S on the Switch, even if elements like including the heroes of 3/4/8 did help mitigate that. That said, it absolutely succeeded in that regard for me. His inclusion was what motivated me to buy Dragon Quest XI when it came out for the Switch, and it became one of my favorite games of all time and made me a much deeper fan of the JRPG genre. I owe quite a bit to him being added.

Fighter: As someone who followed the competitive scene of Ultimate really closely as the game was being updated, it was absolutely hilarious to see the total meltdown people had upon seeing his moveset. To this day I see people campaigning for Hero to be banned for a variety of reasons. Most of them are pretty ridiculous considering how he works, but I can see the argument for points like the language barrier. Personally, I think the randomness of Hero makes him incredibly fun as a sort of wild card in any match. Give him time to set up and he's basically unstoppable. Thankfully he's not a nightmare to fight because he DOES need that time to properly set up, which can be hard to do in close-quarters fights. Maybe that's bias speaking since most of my mains like to get up close and personal.

Stage: Yggdrasil's Altar is alright, nothing really mind-blowing as a stage. I like some smaller elements like the treasure chests that show up on the side, but it isn't really spectacular at all. I think some other locations from XI would've been more interesting, but the altar is a very important location in the game, so it makes sense.

Music: The music blows. All of them are midis that sound really bad compared to the orchestral versions. Rest in hell, Sugiyama.

Hero's a funny guy
