Personally my favorite rhythm FRANCHISE but the song selection in this game is… interesting. Coming from a fairly experienced player usually playing 9 star extremes, the song selection is not fit for that. All of the songs are good, and if you are newer to Taiko then it will probably work, but either the songs are way too easy or way too hard, and the only way to fulfill that desire of good charts is to pay for a bullcrap subscription.

Paar Euro für 3 Monate mehr Weeb-Musik ist ganz solide. In unregelmäßigen Abständen kommt auch neue Musik in das Abo dazu. Gratis Spielmodi Patch war letztens eine nette Abwechslung, wenn auch kaum irgendwie interessant.
Leider weicht die Auswahl der Songs zwischen Taiko no Tatsujin: Pop Tap Beat und Rhythm Festival teils stark ab und man müsste hin und her switchen (haha) um die volle Bandbreite des Spiels abzubekommen.
Rhythm Festival besitzt wohl trotzdem mit dem besten Einstieg in die Serie - abseits von Fanspielen - um das Rhytmus-Gefühl zu üben. Egal ob angepasste Noten, die die Latenz zwischen Taiko, oder kabellosem Gamepad beheben sollen oder ein Modi, bei dem man die Noten langsamer abspielen kann. Es ist wirklich viel Service-Zeug dabei, wenn man wirklich es drauf anlegen will, Songs auf Extrem meistern zu wollen.
Ich liebe es fortschritte zu machen und die erlangt man selbst, wenn man mal ein oder zwei Wochen Pause macht.
p.s. die Plastik-Taiko ist ohne Drumpad-Mod komplett schrott-ig und man wird wansinnig beim trommeln. Außer man lebt in einem Stahlbunker ohne Nachbarn.

The same fun Taiko as ever, but I feel like the last couple games' tracklists have been a little weak for my taste. I also don't particularly like the push toward the music pass, even if it's very reasonably priced for what it is. I wish I could have an option to purchase the tracks outright and play them at my leisure rather than worrying about yet another subscription when I go on a Taiko binge, as someone who doesn't play these games consistently... Not huge on the weird battle pass-adjacent progression system either, but that's more inoffensive than anything.

Huge upgrade from Drum 'n' Fun with all the different game modes, in-game shop for the points you collect as you play, achievements, funky story mode and a Battle Pass-like progression bar that unlocks you even more stuff.
Music Pass was a little questionable at first, but 500+ songs right after unlocking and 8 or so new ones every month look good enough for the price. Now if they add Joubutsu 2000 that would be priceless!

I feel like I would have enjoyed my time with this game more if I had that little drum controller that replicates the drums from the arcade version. Playing on a controller doesn't have that much of an appeal on me and the motion control option is really inconsistent to be viable in anything outside easy and normal. Also, fuck the 5 dollar subscription paywall for so many of the songs
Even better than Drum n' Fun, Amazing Taiko Game, Party Modes are great (And being updated), a whole story mode, which while very...ages 4+, it's inclusion wasn't necessary at all so it being here is nice

My only complaint is the regular taiko mode doesn't have a lot of songs because it has a paid subscription

Good lord why is the story mode formatted like this. I had to play Taiko for upwards of 15 hours to beat it all. AND IT WASN'T EVEN A GOOD STORY. I like Taiko man, I really do. But not this much taiko in such a short span. This was supposed to be my side game while I played a longer RPG! And it'll probably end up taking about as much time! That's ridiculous. And they even lock most of the good songs in this game behind the subscription service. It's just meh. Drum n' Fun is better.

as a drummer, it's the easiest in to the world or rhythm games. it's simple, as drumming should be - two types of hits, top and bottom, not 8 fucking buttons or whatever the hell beatmania is asking you for. just hit things good at the right time. this score is not low because the core gameplay of taiko is any worse than any other game. it isn't. it's great.
the story mode, if you can even call it here, is abysmal. it feels machine translated and is largely incoherent. maybe it was incoherent in the original - it is completely dull and largely a waste of time, but more annoyingly isn't a linear mode you complete - you get dripfed segments from playing the game. it takes something like 20 hours to get all the songs from this mode, and it just feels like a chore mashing through the garbage.
this game introduces the idea of taiko as a live service, which is inherently evil even at the relatively low price point of $3. If this game was a standalone live service with no cost of entry, sure, fine. you can't sell a full price game and then gate 90% of the content behind a paywall.

esse taiko é fantástico. minha primeira impressão dele foi terrível por conta do musicpass porque eu detesto esse tipo de serviço, mas dei uma segunda chance e simplesmente adorei o novo modo donchan band e o toy fight! são muito divertidos, se não os modos mais divertidos da franquia, e são coop, uma novidade no taiko! o modo historia é muito dinamito, conforme voce joga e libera diálogos com o kumo-chan. eu só senti falta do katsu, mas eles preenchem isso com muito dialogo com os outros personagens, e tem o katsu pra conversar no modo toy battle. cada modo tem uma historinha e isso é muito bom.
