Beautiful and unique game about artistry drags on at one point but still worth playing.

A game about self-doubt, living in the shadow of someone else's and breaking free to be who you always want to be. One of the best visuals in games. But tbh, more like an experience than an actual game.

A little platinum with a great artstyle. Really short but some parts of the game are fun.

Pretty, but ultimately a bit shallow.

A real visual stunner, even if the gameplay can get a bit repetitive at times.

This game was recommended by a friend and fellow streamer, Garytron who said, "This is very much a Roy game" and he was right. I can't express how much I loved this one.

The Artful Escape follows a man stepping into adulthood with a shadow of expectation hanging over his head. One he is ready to embrace (albeit it out of the pressure he feels, not out of a love for that future). And then, out of nowhere, aliens show up and take him on a journey of discovery.

The themes of this game had me locked in, figuring out who you are, developing your own personal style and personal sound. Being challenged to create your own journey and definition of who you are, where you come from, and (most importantly) where you are going. And then, wrapping it up with themes of a legacy ending - of losing the thing that defined you and trying to figure out who you are while others take your place.

What a game. What a spectacular game.

I would consider changing two things about it though:
1. I would make the musical gameplay more difficult. This is really a walking simulator (a fun one!) with a few moments of discovery and a few moments of rockband like playing. But the rockband piece is lacking in difficulty and engagement. I think with a little more work they could have made this part of the game more difficult and much better.

2. I felt the ending was slightly abrupt. No way to talk about this without spoilers, but while not a bad ending, it felt like there could have been just slightly more to it and it would have finished the game perfectly.

Still, what a spectacular game. Running through worlds wailing on the guitar is a true pleasure. Definitely recommended!

Vacant of interesting gameplay but packed with visual splendor and a delightful narrative, The Artful Escape is recommended for those that love pure story-driven titles and have always wanted to explore a space rock album cover.

A very surreal game. The Artful Escape follows the story of a folk musician who wants to do rock and roll, but doesn’t want to disappoint his town, who expects him to fit into the shoes of his uncle, a legendary folk singer. He gets whisked into space and ends up in a performance across the universe and some wonderful characters who try to convince him to become his “true self”.

On his journey, he will play music across wild and unique lands. These consist mainly of fairly simple platforming segments, but the visual spectacle of each level is enough to keep your attention. There’s lots of creative stuff to see, and it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

A great story about family and legacy that's heavier on art then actual gameplay which I enjoy. The gameplay mostly consists of rhythm minigames but as I said the audio and visuals while the minigames are going on are some of the main draws for me. The story hits very close to home as it's about standing out from your parents and learning who you are separate from them while also appreciating and understanding where you came from.

Really interesting game, with incredible music.

A spacetime rock 'n roll fever dream that will take you through beautiful landscapes, incredible characters and an astonishing soundtrack. Not very heavy on the gameplay itself, so it's great for when you just want to sit back and enjoy an explosion of colors and song.

Amazing art style and art direction, with some beautiful music. Great option if you want to relax.
Whoever is looking for something else will be very disappointed, as the game has very minimalistic gameplay. However, the artistic side of the game totally covers that flaw, at lest for me.
The main suggestion to enjoy this is just chill out and enjoy the journey.

The game is beautiful, with some of the most visually entertaining art, character and world design you've ever seen, but sorely lacking in the gameplay department. I understand and enjoy that the message of the game is all about self-discovery and going on your own journey to find the things you love, using mediums like art to do so. But man was I expecting there to be more of a GAME. It's an autorunner with no obstacles for most of the game, with a couple of Simon Says repeat-after-me sections that a child could solve. I don't fault this game for having this kind of gameplay, I know it's really not meant to be a challenge, and more of an experience. Just for me personally, I was wanting more to do.

Musics not great, story is bland, art looks good but not in an interesting way. Primarily a walking-sim so not having anything rewarding made this a 4-hour slog I couldnt wait to finish.

I hope this happens to me one day

Qué cosa tan hipnótica, lisérgica y sinestésica es The Artful Escape.

A unique music-focused narrative game with arthouse vibes that I should love in theory. The gameplay swaps between story beats, simple platforming, and rhythm game button tapping to the music. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, but for me none of these game elements stood out enough. I liked the soul of the story, but the somewhat pretentious presentation kept me too distant to be truly invested.
