its just the board game I think

honestly more fun than it has any business being. but there's a better version to be made somewhere

Look, it's cute that this game lets you get a job as a Bard in a medieval-themed map, but it pretty much plays itself. Every challenge or action is just spinning the wheel for a number between 1 and 10. Dance off? Spin. Bowling competition? Spin. Costume contest? UHHHH YOU BETTER BELIEVE YOU'RE GONNA SPIN. The themed boards and music are quite charming, but most of the maps are paid DLC, with only three included in the already-overpriced base game. The 90s Game of Life for PC has ridiculous animations and cute minigames, it's way better than this snoozefest.

Also, how do you explain $100k for "takeout"?!?

It's the most recent iteration of The Game of Life, which is a very mediocre board game. This era of the game is shorter and incredibly simpler than anything prior to 2017.
This game entirely depends on a spin of a wheel chances and possibly choosing between two options. There's not much to strategize or think about, which makes it decent for requiring little focus. Most games last about 15 minutes and all animations and cutscenes can be skipped or fastfowarded, which is a huge bonus.
There's some stuff to unlock, but it's all cosmetic.
It's not great, but that's mainly because of the source material.

This game is very nice! I really wish they implement an actual board game of this in real life, but that's fine. All of the added on DLC's are just retextures, so you don't really need them. I got 100% in about under 30 hours I'd say. Only hard achievement is spinning the wheel 1K times.

more like the game of STRIFE!!! HAHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHA

Smooth Spongebob ass game. The Walmart Game of Life. Almost notable for how little personality was put into the game's presentation. There's so little that could leave any lasting impression. Thematically, this game was walking on the balls of its feet, trying to make as little noise as possible as to avoid the wrath of a scornful parent. It almost loops around to being an interesting design choice, as it seems like it wants to be forgotten about as quickly as possible.

In terms of gameplay, this game is atrocious. They streamlined a board game that's main interactions were binary, limited and tied to randomness to the extent that decision didn't matter. They tried to sand down a game already needed more meat to the bone. The biggest compliment I can give is that games never took more than twenty minutes compared to the 90 min slog the original could be.

There's DLC boards for this game. The new boards do nothing to solve the game's problems and their price is outright predator for how little they add.

Why does this game get a 2 instead of a .5? I played it a bunch with my girlfriend and she likes going through it when we're fucked up. The Game Of Life 2's most redeeming feature is that if you're Porcelain high, it's not a bad time.

So this game is kind of weird to review. I really like that it has options for the player character and spouses to be non-binary and for weddings to be to anybody.

For the initial game at $12.49, I'm not sure it's worth it unless you have friends to play with and one of them has the DLC. The base game is just 1 board. The DLC maps is what makes this game really worth it for me, but it's $29.99 for the season pass that gets you everything or $7.49 for each one individually. The DLC boards are really cool since they change the cosmetics of the board, the jobs available, the houses you can buy, and the retirement cutscenes.

I do wish there was a bit more changed with the DLC. Like have the actions be specific to the theme of the board. Also if you choose the bucket list option for retirement, there's not many choices for upping your attributes. I swear the only one for increasing intelligence is learning to paint whereas wealth and happiness have a more options.

This is a decently big upgrade from the first game. I love the little animations for graduating college, getting married, having kids/pets, and retiring. It just added a lot for my friend and I as we played multiple times in a short play session.

So yeah this just comes down to how much you like the board game. I've always loved Game of Life ever since I was young so having one with more animations and a Mario Party-esque bonus section at the end makes it a lot more fun for me. If you don't like the board game, though, or the price of entry is just too steep (which it is if you want more than 1 board to play on) then I completely understand skipping this.

It's just the board game and that's it lol

if only life were this easy

muito divertido de jogar com amigos de vez em quando!!

so fun!! i <3 playing w husband

Another one I reviewed before, but wanted to see if I still agreed with my previous review since a friend wanted to play again. The answer is yep and the game has since added 2 more boards based on El Dorado and superheroes. Still only worth it if you have friends and either you or them has the DLC.

Literally the only thing I could play while deeply depressed for two weeks.

life is often disappointing

I mean... it's the game of life. That's it.

game has one board and its pretty boring

this game is torture to play singleplayer holy fuck
