Not bad. Simple spin-off of Toree's character with the "style" of Sonic. Interesting, but lacks the entertainment and great level design of Toree 3D and Toree 2.

Honestly, Toree is kinda one of the best series to pay homage to Sonic The Hedgehog. It's a fun little 3D platformer with nice ascetics, camera issues, and a need to go fast. There's even little gems to unlock an extra character if you collect them all in each level. Perhaps, what is most interesting tho is that each level is based on fairly iconic Sonic scenes like Green Hill Zone, Egg Carrier, and the Shadow Boss Fight, but they are done in such a way that makes it feel like more of a nod than the point of the game.

In a lot of ways, Toree Genesis kinda feels too good. Like this is what I wanted Toree to be when I played it, and perhaps still could be as the series continues. While I do think they need to work on camera issues due to some of the fast pace turning in these levels; a lot of the game felt like proper design for what Toree should be. Like, the core thing missing in this game, and by proxy, all Toree games is just not having a proper story. While I understand that the games are simply not budgeted for that or the main point, I really wish we had more cinematics to give more motive. The evil Toree boss fight at the end, while playing me and my love of the Shadow fight, was still far more interesting to me than a lot of Toree's other levels simply because it had a bit of a narrative line too it.

This isn't so much too say that I think genesis is a better Toree game than say 1 or 2, but rather there is a certain spark that Genesis grabs that isn't simply about homage to Sonic nor is in the other Toree games. If anything, I feel like the people that make Toree simply have a love of games and are honing their craft to be better with each new game they release. And for something like this, a simple homage game of another video game character, Genesis does. It's free to pick up, and likely to tingle any Sonic fan's fancy.

It's a cute homage, but nothing spectacular. I appreciate how this developer is so dedicated to these bite-sized experiences, but it would be great to see them create something a bit longer so that there is more time to marinate in the game.

For some reason this game completely lagged to shit for me and made it basically unplayabale, this was definetly not an issue in my end since my pc is powerful and i could run anything else at the time i played this, also the manual camera was really frustrating to use, both of these factors made me immediatly not want to play this and check it out any longer

yeah i absolutely dig these extra levels inspired by the blue hedgehog games

still the same toree still the same gameplay but with some 3 sonic core levels and thats basically it

fun times fun times people

this was really cute, loved all the sonic references and toree is just the coolest lil guy.

For some reason the PC controls seem worse than the Switch controls, and this seems to be PC exclusive, which is unfortunate.

So fun I played through it again as Super Toree.
