Adding a lot to the game for only $2, it's hard to argue that Legacy of the Moonspell isn't great value. I just don't know if anything added is very fun.

The new level is pretty cool at first as it's an actual real level with areas and buildings to explore with enemies that spawn in different biomes. But a map with hard edges you have to navigate is sort of counter-intuitive to the very nature of Vampire Survivors where there are so many bullets and enemies on screen at once you can't see what's going on. The new map ended up being straight-up not fun as I kept running into trees or walls I couldn't see. The new weapons also mostly suck. I tried them all out for challenges and then sealed most of them away for good.

+ Great value

- Most of the new content isn't very good

100% of achievements unlocked. A great expansion to the most addictive game of 2022, Legacy of the Moonspell adds 8 new characters, 13 new weapons and most notably an expansive new stage to the Vampire Survivors experience. Despite the impressive level of variety of weapons in the base game, the majority of the additions here feel meaningfully different and their new effects are definitely fun to use, if perhaps leaning towards being more powerful than the original set. Arguably that's no bad thing, though, as the new stage, Mount Moonspell, ranks next to Cappella Magna as the most challenging in the game - but it's particularly notable with how it's mapped with clearly distinct regions, requiring exploration and navigation rarely seen in the base game.

For the once again very low price, Legacy of the Moonspell is an essential addition for anyone who enjoyed the original experience. However, for anyone still making their way through the base game content, I'd recommend making your way through the majority of that first before coming here.

For those seeking a slight harder VS experience following the base game I think this is fine as the new characters have some really nasty stats and gimmicks. None of the new features really end up elevating the same though. The more detailed map with unique enemy spawns is basically meaningless as item can still be summoned to spawn using mad forest and the unique enemy spawns are pointless as there is still a set enemy spawn order so Kappas just spawn as cannon fodder around hundreds of more powerful enemies, while the cave enemies spawn at a way too frequent rate which bugs out collision.

Huge step up in regards to the spritework, map design, and imo the music. Tons of fun to unlock the new content especially with the price being this good

tão bom quanto o jogo original e extremamente barato

A more difficult map and set of characters than the base game. Notably the new map feels much more like a traditional video game map, with different areas having different enemies and biomes to explore. It was fun to have new unlocks to go after and interesting new abilities to unlock. Fundamentally it's more of the same from the base game, but that's not a bad thing at all.

It's great to have more Vampire Survivors content, but this doesn't really do much to evolve on the formula. One stage, a handful of new weapons and characters, and that's it. I would've liked to see some new relics or some particularly unique weapons--none of them really stand out in comparison to the base game weapons. That said, it was still a lot of fun to return to this game and have a chunk of new achievements to complete. That, and this DLC is outrageously cheap!

Considering the base game only reached 1.0 a mere two months ago, I have to wonder what the impetus is for releasing this so soon thereafter for how little content it actually offers. No new systems, one new stage, eight characters, thirteen new items. The same issues intrinsic to Vampire Survivors remain, that of artificial variety and the illusion of substantive choice. Without some new mechanic at play, this functions identical to a mod pack, clearly pushed out as rapidly as it was to cash in on the hype train surrounding Vampire Survivors' nomination at The Game Awards 2022.

I suppose without microtransactions baked into the game, these similarly-priced nothing expansions will be their substitute. Cue the hoards saying "but it's so cheap" as if that makes it any different from the same thing being packaged in an in-game store rather than as a Steam DLC.

Okay, real review time.

This is a small DLC but I quite liked the additional elements it added. They're quirky and novel and add some variety to the game without making any of the existing weapons irrelevant. The Babi-Onna character and her mirage robe were particularly entertaining with her weaponized flash frames.

The new map is an interesting new direction for the game in that it's a fully defined area and not just an endless chain of templates. I would love to see more content like this in the future, though the Arcana that pulls map items to you should probably be disabled until you actually pick up the new items, or new items should be excluded from its effect. That way you can't cheese around some of the zone specific obstacles that are featured.

The Japanese mythology theme is also a fun change of pace and the sprites are quite fun. Overall: I recommend this if you enjoyed the base game.

(hmm.... now I wanna find a CRT filter for the game....)
