It's a game you'll either love or hate. It has some serious gameplay issues and gets very repetitive and boring very quickly. Also, the game becomes unfairly difficult if you refuse to drink blood. Even when given the choice, the game constantly pushes you to be evil and feed on people. Traveling from one place to another is also tiring. Also, the fact that we have to keep everyone alive in the towns gets annoying after a while. There aren't enough games about vampires, so if you like the concept, Vampyr is worth a chance, but even if you don't play it, you won't lose much. It could have been a good game and it definitely has potential but they didn't work hard enough.

I got so butthurted when I stuck in textures and the last saving point was an hour ago that I immediately deleted the game. I think I just need to replay it for the final verdict.

UPD Aug 29, 2023: as promised to myself, replaying this game.

This game hooked me straight away.
The story was interesting, the characters fairly well fleshed out.
Some game mechanics were poorly explained, so I ended up having to kill someone I didn’t want to. Oops.
But the exploration was fun. That’s one of my favorite parts of these kinds of games: the exploration of the world.

janky and sometimes frustrating, but i had an absolute blast going through this with a friend. going for that no kill run was tough cause hoo boy are there some npcs that you just wanna bite

A little rough around the edges but i'm still hoping for a sequel/spiritual successor to this

The game starts quite poorly by throwing you into its combat which, honestly, doesn't feel great. This was extra confusion as the whole pitch of the game is that everyone you kill truly matters, but it turns out that this only counts for named NPCs and there's plenty of random dudes on the street that you can kill to your heart's content, which feels very at-odds with the game's message.

Eventually you get access to a parry which helps things a little, but not enough to make combat feel satisfying. There's the occasional boss fight but these get worse as the game goes along.

The story was the main draw, but even this falls apart eventually. There's branching paths as dialogue choices can affect character relations or even their survival, but all this comes apart at the seams when there's unexplained shifts on character motivations or actions based on some variable somewhere. My character was suddenly in a deep loving relationship with someone else halfway through despite not really having much of a connection previously, as though I had somehow missed a few hours worth of story.

I was pretty interested in this before it came out, but unfortunately it's not a game I can really recommend.

its a enjoyable game but I do think its a bit short for a rpg especially if you feed like crazy. The combat is probably the biggest flaw in the game as you fight often and the fighting can be tedious or clunky in certain situations. I liked the story a lot and the world building but I do not like how the "evil" ending is almost unavoidable. And I personally think if the game is going to "punish" you for being a pacifist it shouldn't have combat be the only route. in VTMB for many portions of the game you can avoid combat with skills and speech checks. Overall if you like RPGs its worth a shot. If you like rpgs and vampires I think you should play it. This game has more dialog then most rpgs keep that in mind and the combat is nothing special. Also this game desperately needs fast travel because fuck me I ran back and forth way too much. and manual saves.

This could have been a easy 4 - 4.5 if the combat was good and if the good ending was still obtainable with a handful of feeds.

It has a solid premise and some good ideas, but the package as a whole does not work. It is bogged down by a needless crafting system, clunky/overly repetitive combat and writing that thinks it's smarter than it actually is.

If this game had focused up its narrative, limited its cast and changed how it tackled combat it would have been a really great title. Others seem to like this game just fine but for me it's a certified skip it.

Неплохая игра с интересным сюжетом и персонажами. Не самая интересная боевая система

weird jank predictable story not particularly good
but I still enjoy it

Playtime: 24 Hours
Score: 7/10

Very solid RPG game! I have been a fan of Dontnod ever since I played the original Life is Strange, as that game meant a lot to me during my teenage years. So I was surprised to see that they made a vampire RPG of all things. This game has been sitting in my library for a while and I'm glad I finally sat down to play it.

This game in many ways feels like a spiritual sequel to Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and since that games sequel isn't coming for another million years, this is the next best thing. To start with the good, I enjoyed the story a lot, as Dontnod have always been great storytellers to me. It had a lot of twists and turns, and the characters were all very well done. Its helped also by some very good voice acting that really helps sell the dialogue. I also love the amount of choice and consequence you get in this game, that a lot of RPGs nowadays tend to lack. They also do a lot of interesting things with the vampire lore and I found it all very interesting to read through and discover.

The upgrade system for the weapons is also pretty cool. I'm not super picky when it comes to presentation and overall I enjoyed it. The vampire powers you get also are very cool with some I used constantly. My favorite being the power where you can boil an enemies blood and make them explode which is ripped straight out of Bloodlines which I appreciated.

The combat is okay overall. It can feel very clunky in the beginning but does get better as you upgrade your weapons and level up. Only thing I didn't like was the lock on mechanic which can get really annoying to deal with as it will sometimes switch targets while your still fighting the enemy you originally locked onto which I hated.

Some of the things I didn't like was the lack of fast travel. The open world map isn't too big (which I liked), but it can get really frustrating when you have to back track to previous districts and have to fight the same annoying enemies over and over. I'm also not a fan of the autosave system, as everything you do is tied to one save slot. I get that the devs wanted you to have to live with your decisions throughout the story which makes sense for a narrative focused game like Life is Strange, but I would have preferred a manual save system as that's typically how I like my RPGs. I'm not as big of a fan of the hint system where you need to find out more about a character through either questioning them, finding out from other characters or finding notes around the world. Its fine with side characters, but it can be very frustrating with some of the major NPCs for each district where you need to make a crucial choice with them and the best option, is locked behind you having all the hints for them unlocked. I just didn't like this system at all, and it lead to me having to make crappy choices. And finally I just wished there was more to the games ending. I got what I believe is the good ending, and it was satisfying, but you don't get any ending slides for any of the main NPCs or districts which was disappointing. Especially since some characters fates were kind of left hanging in my playthrough.

Overall though this was a solid game and I can recommend it to anyone looking for a shorter RPG.

All Games I have Played and Reviewed Ranked - https://www.backloggd.com/u/JudgeDredd35/list/all-games-i-have-played-and-reviewed-ranked/

pretty good game that's reminiscent of games like Bloodborne and infamous in my eyes, fun combat and challenging scenarios.

Kind of jank, but FULL of charm. It's a pretty and also very atmospheric AA game, with a killer soundtrack too. I want more games in this world.

Plusy: klimat, muzyka, voice acting, grafika ma swoje momenty, wciągający początek
Minusy: słaba fabuła, nuda, fatalny system walki, głupoty fabularne

i really enjoyed the atmosphere, characters, story, dialogues, conversations, gameplay and combat, but i started playing some other game and then i completely forgot how to fight in this game. that's the thing, gameplay must be so clear that even if you are away for 3 years, everything come back naturally. after 2 or 3 months, that i came back to this game, i didn't like a single thing about it and uninstalled it.
it's a 4 star for me though, because it was so fun a while ago.
i copied the save file somewhere safe. i may finish it later. idk.

Największą przyjemnością było zrobienie dramy pedałom, a potem wyssanie ich do końca (chodzi o krew ofc)

This game was very underwhelming for me... I thought the combat was super clunky, the story was boring, same with most characters... There are some boss battles that are "fun" (when the controls work) and the atmosphere is good. Your choices also matter so that's a plus.

pretty underrated in my opinion

super underrated! brilliant artstyle, music, and story. you’ll never guess where this one goes.

i've yet to see a game's cinematic direction achieve anything even remotely similar in quality to this one's aside from maybe RDR2. every cutscene will have you tensely at the edge of your seat, employing an incredibly effective use of long takes and music to shock you to your core and truly immerse yourself in the game's story and world.

the worldbuilding and map design is also absolutely spectacular, with lots of hidden nooks and secrets that house interesting sights and lore. in conjunction with the top tier NPC writing for all side character's and their individual quests and narratives i'd argue that this is one of the most immersive story games of all time, with an incredible atmosphere to seal the deal.

the combat is quite good as well. it's simple, yet fun and maintains a constant challenge while also being incredibly rewarding. there are a multitude of different upgrades and abilities to seamlessly use and enhance your combat experience and the game doesn't force you to use any one of them if you don't want to.

thematically the game is also very memorable. with very profound quotes and an absurd amount of moments that elicit feelings of despair or hope. all of it is directly tied to your actions in game, and the meaning of the story changes with the different endings you get.

i'm shocked to see this has an average of 2.9. this is legitimately one of my favorite games of all time.

I like the presentation and the ideas behind Vampyr more than anything, if you can take some meh gameplay it has some cool visuals and what I assume is an interesting narrative. I couldn't, so I dropped it

okay so hear me out-
it's not like... the best game, but i played it during christmas break, so cozy vibes, and also it made me fall down a rabbit hole of gay fanfiction because i thought the straight romance was so fucking out of place i needed something to fix it and yeah
that's not related to the game and it shouldn't make me give it that high of a score which it doesn't deserve but i just did it, so argue with the wall.
the concept is fun, i enjoy the characters, the lore is a bit over the top, the combat can be a bit exhausting and running around the map every night gets a bit repetitive, especially near the end. it's not for everyone but it is for me so hey

At first sight, it has an immersive world as well as a compelling concept.

But however, is backed up with mid-combat and too much work of knowing a character throughout, even maybe doing a quest before killing him/her just to get extra xp.

Rating: 8.1/10 - Great

Surprisingly great! This game does have issues with its story but I do enjoy the combat a lot and the hardest difficulty did a good job at addressing some of the initial game's complaints.
