What a difference smooth framerate can do to a game! This was my first experience with Kirby's Adventure and it's almost certainly the definitive version. I played it with 3D back in 2011, but I used my 2DS this time, so while I can't account for how much the 3D effects improve the experience, I feel it's reasonable to assume they don't make any difference. The real win here is playing a stable, finished version of the classic Kirby's Adventure. Nightmare in Dreamland would eventually surpass this in basically every way, but it's not as if this one isn't also worth visiting. It is huge compared to Kirby's Dream Land, and it uses that size to it's advantage by creating deeper and more memorable levels. Kirby controls similarly, but is now able to use different powers from enemies you swallow, which becomes the defining variable to set Kirby apart from other 2D platformers. It's a bit lackluster in this rendition, as the powers themselves are rarely utilized to create unique platforming or combat encounters. There are some levels where you can do cool things with Wheel or Laser, but you're ultimately left with a bunch of powers that have the same function. There isn't really anything to separate the area of effect abilities from one another, and the same goes with the short projectile/melee powers. More interesting abilities such as Ball or UFO are barely used, and you can't even take UFO out of the level you acquire it in. Mostly this just feels like an after thought to bring some spice to the experience, and it fortunately works, as even though most of these powers are quite redundant, it LOOKS different, and this game LOOKS incredible. This is probably the best sprite-work on the NES and I'm not sure it's even close. Every level feels unique because of this and it's awesome to see how each piece comes together. And the music absolutely bangs too. There's so much good in this game and it's great they made a way for people to play it and actually have fun, but now Nintendo is closing the 3DS shop so lol fuck you. 4/6
ok now this is a replacement for Kirby Adventure, this is a re release of Kirby's Adventure for the 3DS however the reason why I say it's a replacement for Kirby's Adventure isn't because of any features it adds or new levels, no in that regard it's 1 to 1 the same NES game the reason why I say it's a replacement is because it has absolutely no input lag, and that makes it the best way to play this game
a little fact about me: Kirby's Adventure is my favorite Kirby. yes, I like it more than Super Star or Planet Robobot or whichever other Kirby game people are promoting as the best. for an NES game, the game looks and controls great, but the original had some framerate issues that made it difficult to play
3D Classics takes all these flaws and fixes them, along with adding the very cool 3D effect that makes this game such a joy to play on a 3DS. if you love Kirby, I highly recommend picking this game up

Easily one of the best, if not the best NES game. It takes a lot of the quality of life features seen in other NES games and uses them all within one game. Of all the NES games I've played this is one of the only ones I would recommend to most people. Kirby's Adventure is an excellent addition to it's series and the best NES game I've played so far. It also gets points for introducing the copy ability to the series. (Touching on the 3D remake specifically, it's pretty much the same game, the 3D is alright but the game is still fully playable without it if it isn't to your tastes, overall an excellent port of an already excellent game.)
