chop goblins is an underrated Lynchian masterpiece that David Szymanski considers his magnum opus as a game dev. it's an incredibly deep and harrowing experience that dares to ask incredibly philosophical questions like "is chop goblins a command or the title of the goblins" and "holy shit why is the last level so hard on chop difficulty I just want the last achievement". in all seriousness, it's fun to see Mr. Szymanski do a more light hearted game instead of his usual masterfully done ethereal horror stuff. also, this game is just a longer, shit post version of his game pony factory from the first dread x collection. the comparison between the two is very funny to me. this game is cheap as hell and buying it helps support an amazing artist. def worth your time/ money
Torn between giving this a 7 or an 8.
Charming game from David. Planning on playing his entire game library in 2024 so we'll see where this stacks at in the end. Love the aesthetic too. Only major things are really just that the Dracula boss is kinda too OP for me and that I wish there was a final boss in the final level (although the final room is STRESSFUL, don't get me wrong). For what it's worth, very good game.

This was so much fun! The game perfectly succeeds at what it's set out to do. A quick and simple FPS that is super charming and surprisingly well thought out. Each level is distinct, all the weapons have their use, the gameplay is very satisfying, the enemies are varied etc. I also appreciate the fact there are different difficulty modes so PC FPS noobs can enjoy the game too (like me lol). One con is the fact you can't save and quit with your current run. You have to finish it in one sitting. It took me 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete the game on the second difficulty mode. While it helps the game is not long, I still prefer having this option. Other than that, it's party time! I'm planning on playing the other modes and try to get the rest of the achievements.
This is my first exposure to David Szymanski's games and it makes a solid first impression. The concept is just ridiculous enough to be awesome, the gameplay is solid, and there are some unique weapons and stages. There's not much else I could ask for in a boomer shooter. I would've loved to see this be a bit longer than it was, but I'm not opposed to a bite-sized experience.
