About what I expected from a David Szymanski game. Good feeling weapons and some funky level design. It is just about an hour long and so does not outstay its welcome, even though my experience was influenced by me, falling in a dark pit in the final level with no way to get out of it. You can not save your game, so I had to go back to the main menu and start the level from scratch via the level select, which means I lost all my points and ammunition. Apart from that unfortunate oversight, the game is rather fun and silly.
Chop Goblins is not a good game in the way that Elden Ring is a good game, but I had fun with this short and silly romp. If you can get it on sale for under $4, I think it's worth it. I have only played a couple David Szymanski's games, but I'm pretty interested.
It'll probably only last you a couple hours if you 100% the thing like I did, but I enjoyed my time here. It's amusing with its nonsensical “story” and love-to-hate goblins. Your arsenal is thematically clashing yet all works well, and I like that you can stab and shoot at the same time. When you're using a two handed weapon, a third hand and arm appear to help you do some extra damage. I don't think it's as memorable as Squirrel Stapler or Iron Lung, but there's also a bit more to see, here.
There's not much to say about this brief boomer shooter other than I'm glad I gave it my time.
I recommend Chop Goblins, especially if you can get it on sale and don't mind the game being pretty short.

A fun little adventure by the creator of DUSK. I was really excited to play DUSK and this game has a base price of $1.99 so I thought I would spin it up first. The Quake aesthetic is awesome and the goblin enemies are dripping with personality. I really liked how the levels looped on themselves a lot without being overly confusing; it definitely feels like the work of a seasoned level designer. Some of the themes were really unique--I especially liked the Greece level, set during the daytime in a seaside Greek temple for no reason. The final level is clearly Star Wars themed, again for no reason, but you can tell Szymanski was just having fun making this game. It's a game for fans of the genre by somebody who isn't disillusioned by the success of their big hit game. I really respect that.
short but sweet little boomer shooter game by David Szymanski. Overall its a fun time with a lot of replay value. Gunplay is fun and weapons are cool. I think the overall vibe is fun with the funny goblins and the areas you go to. Finished in about under an hour and only have 3 achievements left so might go for a plat. Worth it if you'd enjoy a quick little fps game.
A fun premise with a minimal set of weapons, enemies and levels with an hour or two of play, plus options for modifiers and New Game+, neatly packaged for your Video Home System.
I wish there were more games like this! I really like a game to be a one-evening deal, but I also love having an excuse to come back for a "victory lap" with weird modes and challenges.

From the creator of DUSK comes this delightfully twisted game, Chop Goblins. It's short, charming, and will only set you back a little to nothing. While it may not reach the heights of DUSK, the game's short duration doesn't diminish its entertainment value, making it a perfect choice for a fun and light-hearted afternoon of gaming.
