generally easy, but still enjoyable. introduced some new and interesting mechanics I really wanted

how the fuck do you remake gaiden and somehow make it worse.

I beat this game out of spite

Shadows of Valentia represents the pinnacle of the 3DS era of Fire Emblem, with strong visuals, sound, writing, and presentation. The gameplay is both challenging yet accessible through smart inclusions of features both old and new. It truly represents the best of Fire Emblem

probably has the best art direction of any FE game out there. as far as the gameplay and story, it's commendable what they made out of it considering how strange and clunky the original is but it still has the flaws of the original. that's not inherently a bad thing though. i like that it's faithful to the original's identity, warts and all.

the art was absolutely gorgeous, and some of the maps were a little hard but i really enjoyed the fact that it made me struggle a bit <3 really nice remake, and so much better than what i expected

map design - bad
character design - good
alm - lame
celica - cool
gameplay gimmick - lame
core gameplay - good
story - good
mae - good
lukas - good
soundtrack - very good
character design but again - really really good

It was very kind of them to dump all the bad parts into Celica's story while keeping the kino in Alm's. More proof that women are inferior.

Great Music, Art, Voice Acting and characters but the maps are honesty unfun, annoying and are some of the worst in series for me. If the maps were updated and redesigned more from their NES counterpart, this would easily be one of the best FE games as the rest of this game is great on top of being an amazing remake.

This game is so close to being perfect but it tries to be too faithful to Gaiden with its map design and combat and it ends up hurting the experience as a result

This game restored my hope for the franchise after how much Fates killed it

And it didn't need to be amazing in the gameplay department, just have great production values, add new elements to the series and have great focus. One of my favs of 2017

Great game, especially Alm's route.

standard Fire emblem with wonkier map design but insanely good voice acting and presentation.

Such a weird FE game. Didn't mind the deviations from the usual formula, such as dungeon crawling, AS calculation, weapon arts, learning spells, etc. And DEFINITELY didn't miss reinforcements. Presentation was amazing as well, loved having all characters fully voiced and the voicework overall was great. But those awful, generic maps really hurt the game. As did the lack of enemy variety and the trash mobs the game throws at you. Definitely a standout FE game, but not one of the better ones

I played Fire Emblem Gaiden in high school and loved it. I assumed that nobody would ever know or care about the story of Alm and Celica. I now live in a world where most people who like Fire Emblem at least know of them. That will be forever wild to me. I got my copy of this game on the same day as my high school graduation party. I retreated for a bit because I got really tired. I played this for a bit. It is a very special video game.

An absolutely bizarre spectacle of a remake trying it's damned hardest not to fix any issue the original unspeakably dated game had. It's seriously comical how much this game tries to not address any flaw the game originally had and just tack on more shiny stuff to essentially polish a turd. The shiny stuff is cool but the fact is, this remains a turd.

The map design is this game's biggest pitfall, but the vibes are immaculate; it has a simple yet effective story with an absolutely incredible soundtrack and art style. Easy beginner rec for the series.

its definitely an nes game but the amount of detail and qol updates makes this a great entry (albeit with its questionable map design)

The art direction is the best in any Fire Emblem and the story and voice acting are great. I'd give this 5 stars but the map design and lack of weapon triangle is pretty painful.

Hidari needs to return for the next FE game because this game has the best art direction in the entire series.

Beautiful game with a great story, soundtrack and art direction.

It would be one of my favorite games if it wasn't for the horrible map design.

Obv gem of the DS games but it doesn't count since its a remake

I love everything about this game except actually playing it. Yet it's my favorite FE.

Great Story and characters with decent enough gameplay

Seems fine, but the map design just isn't vibing with me for some reason...

Literally the best Fire Emblem game ever
