Ah yes, the most overrated one, with no chance to play this 1P and have any fun. Multiplayer only, for your own sake.
Easily my favorite Mario Party. Really cool themes, really fun minigames, nice music, nice gimmicky boards without getting too gimmicky.
As far as I'm concerned it's basically Mario Party 1 but improved. Favorite N64 Mario Party

You can make this complaint with every Mario Party game ever, but some of the minigames really fucking suck. Anything that's just "can you buttonmash well?" should not be in the game.

I've never been into the Mario Party series, but I've played so many rounds of Super Mario Party in college with my friends who had it. I always thought it was a fun enough time, but nothing I would be very ecstatic about to play.
Then I played a single round of Mario Party 2 and I immediately understood. I have vague memories of playing a round or 2 of this when I was like 6, but nothing concrete. But when I played it the other day, I was laughing the entire time. I kept saying to myself "Wow, this is so much fun" even when complete bullshit was happening. In my many rounds of Super Mario Party, nothing even came close to the fun I had in a single round of this game, and now I'm hyped to play even more.

This game kinda sucks. It’s got real janky mini games that are just annoying to play. Give me 4, 7, or 8 any day over this.
Mario Party at its best, including the maximum amount of ways to get players to fight each other.

Pretty good, but there's a big problem with luck based minigames. The "hub" is also kinda lame compared to the first game.

Peak Mario Party with tons of heart put into it. Only downside really is only being able to hold 1 item at a time.
Mario Party 2 proves that people will say a game's amazing if it has one cosmetic feature instead of actually focusing on the core gameplay.
I loved the theme courses and how the characters dressed for the part with the little endings for the winner.

A glow up compared to the first game. Much better rules, infinitely better selection of minigames (including bringing back the best from the first game with improvements).
The boards are good too, though I thought the boards were the best part of the first game, so I won't say these ones are "better". I did love that each character got their own outfit for the boards.

Its incredible how many more entries have come after MP2 and none of them have been able to surpass it in terms of quality. MP2 is the definitive MP experience, bar none. All of its boards are fun to play on, the mini-games are all fun and (mostly) balanced, and even those that aren't are entertaining as hell with friends. Its just a fun game, one that can be played with friends forever, and one of my absolute favorite games of all time.
