According to British paper The People, Queen Elizabeth II is the latest member of the Wii fanclub.

The report says that the system was a Christmas gift from Kate Middleton to her boyfriend Prince William, but after watching her grandson play, the monarch "begged to join in."

"She played a simple ten-pin bowling game and by all accounts was a natural," the paper states, presumably referring to (pack-in title) Wii Bowling.

While it's not shocking that the Wii's ability to captivate every member of the family would extend to the Royals, picturing Queen Elizabeth, the pinnacle of regal grace, flailing about with a Wiimote or cussing out William for getting a strike should almost definitely be the focus of Nintendo's next ad campaign.

Slightly better than the original but not by much. Minigames overall are a little less consistent in quality but I was a huge fan of the London City story mode which really carried my experience

Best Mario & Sonic game to date!

The Mario & Sonic game that I spent the most time with. It's got a decent tournament mode where you move around a board and duel in random events. The dream events were very cool as well.

So I never played London 2012 when it came out, the last one I played (and played religiously) as a kid was Vancouver 2010. Going into this, EVERYONE always praises this one as like the best one, but I don't know… There are somethings that I absolutely hate about it. A lot of, if not every event that was in Beijing 2008 control worse here. Like, for the 100m, it felt much more natural to use wii mote and nunchuck to emulate running, as opposed to London were its just the wii mote and it ends up hurting my one arm and feeling unnatural. And some of the new events are good, but a couple of them SPECIFICALLY BADMINTON can go burn in hell. I spent over an hour just trying to win the badminton gold medal because no matter what, the cpus rarely mess up. Synchronized Swimming also controlled really poorly and I had to drop it down to easy to even get on the podium. Another change I really disliked was the presentation and overall feel of the game. There must have been a slight artstyle change between the original and this one, because the original felt more authenticity in the real world. This one, everything is super saturated and kinda chibi and it just didnt provide the same level of immersion that the original (and Vancouver) did. I still appreciate the small details of effort put into things like acurate venue locations, pictograms, etc. But the overall feel was definitely, Mario and Sonic first, Olympics second (Going to go deeper in on this in a little bit). But one thing they did NAIL, was the soundtrack. Particularly the Main themes, Replay theme, Results, Records, Staff Roll, etc that utilized a live orchestra. It’s absolutely insane, incredible and emotional. Like they were totally going for emulating John Williams in this one and they killed it. The first game had this in its opening theme, but everything else was kinda synth-y arcadey stuff (which was fine). This isnt even to mention the large amount of Mario and Sonic remixes they just throw in, which are all pretty decent overall. But this is where one of my biggest issues with the game lies. Like I said earlier, this feels like a celebration of Mario and Sonic first, and the Olympics second. Bejjing 2008 felt like a high budget Olympics arcade sports game, that just happened to feature Mario and Sonic characters. I kinda rely on the series to be that, beings that the mainline Olympic Games series that Sega makes is total hot garbage. I look to these games to provide acuarate depections of what the Olympics were like at that time, just kinda the general feel of the game. But its pretty clear that the focus of 2012 was on things like the Dream Events and fan service. I think that is why most fans like this game the best, is because they dont really care about the Olympic stuff, only really the Mario and Sonic stuff. Im generaly not a big fan of many of the dream events (Dream Trampoline and Equestrian is pretty fun though) and don't really like this approach to the game. Things like the Olympic and World Records are inaccurate now, Olympic Trivia is gone and is kinda just replaced by the scratchers and shop and challenges, which is a very lame trade off in my opinion. I’m definitely in the minority here, but I just personally care much more about having solid Olympic games than fan service. Besides all this, the circuits are replaced by London Party, and I only played London Party once, but wasn't huge on it. It’s probably more fun with friends, but the way I chose to beat the game following that was to just get the Gold medal in every event. I’m just super middle of the road on this one. Hopefully the 3DS version is better.

Theres fun to be had but I certainly wouldnt call this a classic.

This game is better then it has any right to be.

Dream events were the best part of this game, the London Party board game mode was also really addictive to me.

better than the real 2012 Olympics because it has sonic in it

Used to play this a lot when i was younger

The best one out of them all.
Heaps of Games and Minigames.
The Mario Party Like Mode was so much fun and kept my brothers and I playing forever. Games were always fun to play

yeah this one's pretty good and has the best dream events

london party's okay, there's some standout minigames here are there but nothing special. still runs into the same issue as 2008 where most minigames are just 'shake to win'

By far the best mario and sonic game. It has many pros, and many cons that balance them out.

Overall, it’s a fun little game to play with friends. That’s all it is though. 7/10, 3.5/5

built so much from the original

Tão brabo quanto o de neve lá

This score is totally not based on nostalgia.

the dream events are the highlight

Not as good as the 2010 one, but still a fun time with the London Run mode being a surprisingly fun experience.

The last good Mario & Sonic game. Easily the best set of events in the series fun enough to replay a ton, particularly the dream events which were an absolute blast. Very good minigame game.

It's been years since I played it, but I can say for certainty that it's the GOAT.

i remember playing this in the basement of my friends house and we would just be screaming constantly. i wonder if his parents hated us

I played this so many times as a kid
