Personally this game exceeded my expectations in some areas and let me down in others. When it comes down to the core fighting mechanics I love the character maneuverability and bonus movement features that games like Smash Ultimate sorely lack (strafing, jump + down to fall through platforms, etc.). Also have multiple options for strong/light aerial attacks are a nice bonus too. However, this game does lack a lot of the polish that one would get from a top tier title like Super Smash Bros.

Honestly I found myself comparing this game to CN Punch Time Explosion XL more than Smash Bros though, considering that is the same concept of a platform fighting game featuring popular cartoon characters. While I feel that the core fighting gameplay blows that title out of the water, I was sorely disappointed in the lack of modes and bonus features present here. The only ways to play are straight brawl and arcade (Equivalent to Smash Bros.'s Classic mode), and nothing else... okay there's a sports mode too but that's one minor thing. No story mode, no target smash or multi-man fighting or anything like that! Arcade mode is also underwhelming because there aren't any special battles like having to fight a huge or metal character, or having low gravity or something like that.

Overall the game feels very bare; the skeleton is super strong and has a lot of promise but there's hardly any meat on the bones to give it that extra layer of fun. Even still, I hold out hope that future updates will allow the devs to continue rolling out new content for the game, both with upcoming DLC characters and possible alternate costumes.

Fun game in its current state as of October 2021, but it sure feels rushed and missing content. A lot of game-breaking bugs and for a competitive platform fighter that isn't really ideal. Some characters feel more jank than others with some characters feeling less polished as a result. Characters like SpongeBob have pretty decent animations and a move set heavily inspired by the show while others like Toph have super stiff animations and an uninspired moveset. Many characters have this issue with Toph probably being the most egregious example. There are no alternate colors or costumes making fighting dittos a pain since there is no distinction on who is who and is also a big missed opportunity. The single-player content is lacking and feels tacked on while the online experience is the more fleshed out of the two with proper rollback netcode and ranking modes like competitive. Aside from all these downsides, the gameplay is still a lot of fun. The devs clearly know what platform fighter fans like and are fans themselves which really pushes this game from being a somewhat mediocre licensed video game to a fun and competitive platform fighter. It's not perfect but I think with time it will really shape up into a great game. Until then I think a 3/5 is a good score for the game as of the time I write this.

I actually overall like the game but it does have some flaws preventing it from being up there as one of the best Smash Bros clones.

The best things I'll say is the game ultimately plays well, has rollback netcode, the roster selection is mostly pretty good, the game balance is mostly good (once they removed the infinites) and the attention to detail for character movesets is similar to how Sakurai researches movesets for Smash Bros.

EDIT: The fact that they added voice acting gave 1 more point to this game. Made the character feel like characters and not just functions.

My biggest flaws are:

1)Kind of annoying lobby system. Mostly comes into play if you want to play 1v1, and want to switch characters. You need to change the "Max Players" to 2, and you have to keep making new lobbies just to make a new character. Would be nice if this were streamlined better.

2)Some weird roster priorities. It seems weird when stuff like Fairly Oddparents get 0 characters in base roster while Ren and Stimpy get two, TMNT only gets 2 turtles but we get a side girl form the same series instead.

3)Barebones single player content. Arcade mode gets the job done I guess, but there's basically nothing else to do besides unlocking all the Gallery stuff.

Having character voice lines would have taken this game from a wild "meh" to a "this can be more fun than smash with the right mood."

You play for the characters, but they all have no personality outside their skin. Which is a bummer. It's also super buggy. But I am still going to get stoned and have spongebob punch reptar with my friends because -- nostalgia.

it's dogshit, company made the devs release it basically in alpha. look at classic mode or controller customization or the fact that there is no friendly fire or even fuckin teams modes. the front man for the game is a bit of a grifter tho ludosity is a great albeit antisocial and confounding company when it comes to their decisions when remar isn't at at he helm, and he sat out for this project, so we just get unchecked ludo's confusing gameplay decisions mixed with gamemill's rushed inconsistent modelling, since the game was only given like a year and a half of dev time.

As much as I like to sing this game's praises, such as its very fast-paced and engaging mechanics and its great soundtrack, I just as much like to acknowledge its shortcomings. No voice acting, lots of unused content that very well should have been in the game at launch, and general poor presentation hold this game back. I have no doubts this isn't the fault of the developers, though, so I'll be checking back in when an update or two releases.

The music is cool, the grafics meh. By the way this game is good

impressive for how low-budget it seems. really hope it gets more support from nick so they can do more with it

Super cool to see the slap city devs doing another platform fighter(Smash bros-like). Unfortunately i don't like many of the changes made. the lack of charging attacks and the control scheme being so radically different while maintaining other elements of earlier smash bros games led to a lot of confusion/frustration I wonder how much of this comes from a lack of polish/money.

needed more time & support desperately. the final result is a poor platform fighter running on a shoestring budget that is too jank and ridiculously unbalanced to appeal to the competitive audience and too unpolished and plain to stick around casually.

It's not smash, but still shockingly good

As a slap city enthusiast since 2018 this game really dropped the fuckin ball LMFAO it's genuinely disappointing. 50 dollars for an unfinished product where characters have nearly identical animations on all their normals, nothing has any weight or feels satisfying, balance sucks ass, went from slap having the best controller optimization in any platfighter to having the absolute worst controller optimization of all time. This game is carried by the fact it has nick characters because if it didn't no one would give a single shit and it would have died less than 24 hours after release and no one wants to shit on the nickelodeon game. Simply heartbroken by the lack of polish and inspiration in the game in every way when slap was made with so much love and passion

there's a carry throw so its peak

There is clear live and care put into the games by the devs, despite the evident lack of budget. I can see myself returning to this game in a year or so and having even more of a blast.

Nickelodeon All Star Brawl is, for what it is, a very competent platform fighter with extremely fun gameplay, good online (for the most part), a great roster, and lots of charm. However, its clear that the game is on a shoestring budget with the lack of polish and content being very apparent.

It was really fun for the first 2-3 weeks and I can say its a good game, but i wish I could've stuck around for longer.

This shit's good y'all are overreacting. Needs more content though.

It was a good meme but it just kinda controls like ass. Half of my inputs feel like they never come out. It's a shame too because this had the pedigree and the financial backing to be a competent Smash clone. But between bad online, lack of voiceover, no control profiles, and no meaningful single player content, the most you'll ever see this game at is with friends on the couch. And even then, once you play a few rounds, you'll just wanna switch back to Smash.

It's good but Slap City is better.

oh hell naw spingbib pulling off that wave dash

Felt like an early access release. The characters need voice acting or at least voice clips from their respective shows. It's just okay. Too many rough edges.

Probably one of the best moving platform fighters I've played. Unfortunately there's a lack of polish here as evidence by how jank the game can be and how lifeless it is audibly.

some of the most solid movement in platfighter history with the unfortunate downside of being a licensed game. more time and work and this game will be much better

please put butch hartman in this game his final smash would be tracing art
