An absolute gem of a game. The combat may not have aged well and it's a considerable downgrade in comparison to the two other installments, but it's nonetheless a genius game with incredible level design and great storytelling. Please let there be a Remake of this soon.
EDIT: Well that last part did not age well. :(

Ubisoft making games that aren't the same camp raiding , tower scaling and map revealing messes?
Well yeah back in 238912 BC Ubisoft made all sorts of games including the Prince of Persia series especially the PS2 trilogy.
Funny thing is I played this dead last after Warrior Within and Two Thrones and after the ending of the latter it made going back feel even more appropriate.
Now this game doesn't have the more varied platforming of Two Thrones or the improved combat starting from Warrior Within but it has the best story and atmosphere out of all of them , I'd say music as well but you know ... Warrior "I STAND ALOOOOOONE" Within exists so it can't beat that masterpiece. Tower of Dawn is really damned good though.
It's also a linear experience which is refreshing to play after playing 50 billion open world games nowadays. Will Ubisoft return to this series to make it yet another Ass Creed? Time Only Knows.
Oh yeah the remake looks like shit stay away from that thing.

There are games with good writing for a character that accompanies you, then there's this. So goddamn great! Farah I was worried would end up like most games with a male lead, just submissive dummy to the big guy but nah she held her own dropped equally funny quips and had wonderful chemistry with the Prince that I got very into. Masterfully told fairy tale that I could always replay, this and two thrones are my favourites. I pretend warrior within doesn't exist.
Remember when Ubisoft made games that were meant for entertainment instead of tricking people into "engaging" with their products? I do at least.
This is one of those rare games where everything just clicks into place, the platforming is great, the puzzles are good, the combat itself serves its purpose fine (and I remember it being way worse when I first played it around a decade ago). All of this is kept together by some really good pacing, the designers knew just when to ramp up the action and when to make things calmer, how many times in a row they should use a specific obstacle/mechanic before it got stale, you really can't ask much more out of the game.
What you could ask for though would be a little less waves of enemies at times, half of the encounters seem to go just a wave too long, it doesn't even serve much of a purpose since you can usually heal during the time it takes for the enemies to spawn again. A better camera would've been fine as well, a few times it can be difficult to figure out where your next jumping point is.
These issues though are greatly outweighed by the pros, plus a number of really good decisions on smaller things (the time rewind mechanic is basically iconic, the way the game presents itself is also really original to this day).
If you haven't played this game absolutely do so, it might seem very quaint at first since it introduces a lot of things that most action games made afterwards took, but you'll realize that very few if any of them execute these concepts with such efficiency.
