Great story and game mechanics.

It's such an amazing reboot, that the downward turn the sequels take just hurts even more.

Does raiding ruins really counts as raiding tombs?

I had a good time with this one. Doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it plays well and the story is good (if silly - I agree with people who complain about how she feels remorse about killing someone, and then goes on to a shooter sequence in which you mass murder like 30 guys)

An enjoyable action adventure game

The only Tomb Raider game I've played and found enjoyable. Good story and a good way to introduce Lara's introduction to tomb raiding.

Its ok. good shooting terrible story

jogo desgramento de dificil ou eu que era jovem e ruim

The proto-God of War in that it's another franchise reboot that really wants to be a Naughty Dog game but fails in some key ways. In fact, this game wants to be two Naughty Dog games simultaneously. In it's attempt to have both the high energy adventurous spirit of Uncharted, and also the dark survivalism of The Last of Us, it confuses the tone of both its gameplay and its narrative.

The game starts off with a shipwreck as Lara and crew are trapped on an island. As an origin story for the character, the player is inexperienced and must scavenge and find ways to survive a harsh wilderness. Eventually you run into some guys who capture you and eventually this leads to your first time killing another person. Lara is traumatized by this event for all of 30 seconds, before the cutscene is over and she then proceeds to ruthlessly murder every single person on this island without batting an eye.

This is where the game turns into Uncharted and the previous survival elements are rarely if ever seen again. And as an Uncharted game, it isn't even particularly great. Yes, the shooting and the platforming all feel up to par with Uncharted. However, none of the scenarios Lara is put in gave me any thrills I hadn't already previously experienced in Uncharted. And as Lara is doing all of this Uncharted stuff, the visual language of the game, particularly in the cutscenes, are still trying to tell me it's a dark and gritty survival game, but the game itself want me to be thrilled like I'm watching an Indiana Jones movie.

As for the titular Tombs that are being Raided, even the puzzles in this game are dumbed down from previous entries. The one thing this game could've tried to do to give itself its own sense of identity is gone now. Instead we have optional tombs that offer no challenge whatsoever. Overall, I'd give this muddled game a hard pass and just replay one of the Uncharted or The Last of Us games, depending on the kind of experience you're looking for.

Story was meh and gameplay is great but just for 8 hours and after that it gets repititive. Is this game a must? No, but if you get it on discount it's worth it.

What if Tomb Raider ripped off Uncharted after Uncharted ripped off Tomb Raider?

its like uncharted but really miserable and unfun

Dark and moody, Tomb Raider will always be nostalgic for me, regardless of the inescapable over-sexualisation of Lara all over the place.

engagingly written and well-executed. discourse clouds my memory of it but it's a good example of AAA doing really tight game design that plays to its own strengths and i can respect that.

I didn't finish it but it was pretty okay I guess. It tries too hard to have scary moments where they just don't belong. You're probably better off just playing uncharted.

I enjoyed the gameplay, honestly. But I didn't get too much of the story, I'm not much of an explorer lol

Weird, since I did finish it. But it was a free game of the Games Gold thing so I got it just 'cuz. Might consider replaying and getting into the series one day again.

I fucking hate this game so much, this reboot kills the beloved character so much by having some random girl who is named Lara but she does not act like Lara in slightest.

This reboot explores how Lara becomes the Tomb Raider, and uses another dead parent for motivation as to why to do what she does. The story then introduces a bunch of whatever characters that end up dying anyway, those who don't end up fucking off with one of them namely Fat Vaas since i can't remember his name, becomes a reoccurring character in the later reboot games.

In a game called TOMB RAIDER you hardly raid tombs, in fact this girl called Lara says she hates tombs after seeing a skeleton in a sarcophagus. Instead the tombs that aren't raided in the main story are SIDE CONTENT and story makes sure you don't get "bored" from those boring tombs by having shitty uncharted set pieces.

The gameplay is just a boring third person shooter with, skill points and skills. The enemies are just terrible since Lara runs around circles these guys and god forbid you get lost in the atmosphere or the environment exploring you get another boring ass firefight with enemies who can't keep up with Lara's agility.

Overall this reboot game honestly pisses me off a lot. It even has tacked on multiplayer so it really was a product of its time and it really shows. If i could rate it lower i would.

Despite never playing any of the old Tomb Raider game, even I felt this game was extremely basic in almost every way.

The gameplay while fun for the first few hours, you'll quickly realize its the same thing over and over again, which probably wouldn't be all that bad if the game actually gave you a reason to care about its story and characters. The story is boring and generic and the characters half of the time you don't even remember exist.

Its cool cinematography, with its nice graphics and soundrack as well as some puzzles were are its saving grace as they did do a good job of entertaining me but other than that Tomb Raider just feels like a generic holywood action movie you watch and completely forget afterwards

I liked it better than Uncharted 1 but not 2 and 3.

It's certainly better than anything that came out after Tomb Raider: Chronicles.

one of the best story-driven cover shooters i have ever played. crank that difficulty up and raid the fuck out of those tombs.

enjoyable reboot and i liked what it explored of lara's character
