It is a little crazy to me that this game is better than Hades 1. By all rights, this should have been in the same situation as Silk Song; getting so absolutely devastated by feature creep and endless reworking perfectionism that it ends in a thematically appropriate Sisphusyian purgatory.
but it's 2024 so it's out in early access what the fuck are team cherry doing
It's not exactly a straight upgrade from the original. It doesn't have the same warm heart, the already steep difficulty curve is getting harsher and Dusa isn't even in the game yet. And still, somehow, it's better. Mel is slightly colder than Zag, but her neuroses and anxieties reveal a loving heart damaged by her circumstances. In turn, her lovers are far more standoffish than even Meg at her thorniest - Mel x Eris 4everr, they need to hate fuck in the next patch.
The gameplay is faster, more expressive and more varied. The music is somehow even more instantly iconic than the first. The graphics are beautiful. It has TWO dungeons! Fuck. Fuck. Silk Song is fucked.

so excited for the release!!<3

I've played little of it, but what I have experienced, it is basically more Hades but with a different vibe. You're not a warrior, you're a witch. You're not using weapons of a traditional fighter, but spells. It's already a fun experience right now, and I think if you're a mega fan of the first game, you can feel justified buying into this game's hype and purchasing the early access version. I've had fun with it, but I'm going to let this sit in the backlog until it gets to 1.0 (also I still need to roll credits on the first game, I haven't done so yet.)

it's very fun, but it's a ton of expensive seasonings and sauces with no food.

great sequel to an already amazing game

if they wipe progress when the full game comes out im ending it all

its peak tho

I completed what was available in the early access, which was terrific. From the start, it's a more complete package than Hades I. Although I prefer Zagreus's personality, the story this time is amazing and intriguing. The changes to the game loop, like the possibility to explore another map, the familiars, and the emphasis on magic, make this a more well-rounded experience. I cannot wait to see what they're cooking for the game when it finally launches.

Basically feels like a full game already. Incredible soundtrack and art style, combat not quite there yet for me.

many gameplay mechanics were improved on since Hades, which is awesome! however, some of the awesome creativity is lacking. i miss the dynamic-ness of each character in the original, each pose was fitting of the character. yet now, the designs feel almost empty. Some of them have been simplified, which I can see why from a design choice- but it feels as if in doing so they removed the personality from the design.
howevr. still a very amazing game, and deserves to be judged on its own and not in comparison to the first (the above are just personal gripes). be creative! be big! be bold! there is nothing more astonishing than standing out.

Shouldn't give this a full review but for now it sits here as it goes through changes and updates

Best roguelike for newcomers

I've shelved Hades 2 since it's an early access so I will be waiting until the game is fully released. But!! The game looks amazing and I love the way they are headed.
Characters are so fine (Nemesis and Moros ESPECIALLY) and funny and I like them a lot and I'm looking forward to interacting with them further when the game is released.
The fighting mechanics are so good for an early access of the game so I think I will just pass out if they make it any better. As for the weapons...I hope they work on them a bit more since I like only 3 of them...and the others are mid to be honest...

I've gotten as far as you can go in the story thus far and I totally love it.

The additions of the new gods and new boons is excellent, the way Melinoë moves is unique to Zagreus and feels fresh.

I personally have a hard time with a couple of the weapons but I'm also the first to admit that I'm not particularly good at roguelikes so that's just my opinion.

The story is excellent and they've expanded so well on the base of the existing game. I particularly like the omega moves system, I think they add a lot of versatility to combat and a lot of fun options with builds.

I also love the art and music so far, I can't wait to see the rest of the assets when they're ready.

And of course, the story. So far it's really good and I can't wait to see how it ends.

tecnicamente ainda não zerei, mas pqp jogo é incrível igual o primeiro!!

Vou esperar ele lançar completo para jogar de novo, eu achei um pouco fácil demais no lançamento, tomara que balanceiem tudo certinho.

How did Supergiant manage to make a game so perfect and then do it again three times better!? I cannot wait to play the finished game. Already amazing.

esse jogo ja ta incrivel e ele vai ficar melhor

Hades was already perfect in my eyes, I was fully expecting this game to just be more of the same but maybe a bit longer.
My god. They somehow made a masterful gameplay loop even better. These people are geniuses. I think this is forever gonna be one of my favorite games of all time, unless they make a Hades 3 that dethrones it (please omg 🙏).
Literally the one and only downside is that it's technically unfinished (as of June 2024) and I REALLY want to know what happens in the story! Beating Eris and then being given the boot back to the crossroads made me sad!
But I can be patient for a game as perfect as this!

The only thing I need in the roadmap for 1.0 is the Scylla and the Sirens album thank you

I was a bit skeptical about Supergiant doing a sequel to one of their games, but this is pretty much everything I wanted. I especially love that dash spamming isn’t the optimal win strategy for every run like in the first game. Can’t wait for the full release!

a great continuation for the hades series. really fun time and continues to have the heart from the previous game. Really great showing from the early access, waiting to see more

Hades 2 is doesn't really innovate much, but it is more Hades and that is always a good thing. New weapons, new enemies, new bosses, new mechanics, it freshens up the experience by just having a lot of new! If you like Hades 1, you will like Hades 2. I do personally wish they evolved the formula a bit more, as it does feel like a game I've already played.

A masterpiece. Can't wait for new content. I couldn't enjoy Hades 1 very much because the combat was too simple. This game has improved on all regards. One of my new favourites of all time.

Whilst the game is in early access, there is still a ton of content to sink your teeth into and despite sinking a ton of time into Hades 1, I still found the game to be a breath of fresh air.

Alot of the changes come down to the difference in utility the two protagonists have, Zagreus was about speed and brute strength whilst Melinoe I found to require abit more strategy especially when it came to builds and the kit.

The gods (old and new) are back in force and are incredible as always with even more gorgeous art.

I'll be playing Hades 2 for a long time to come and the two patches so far made the experience even better.

Supergiants legacy of quality is proven well deserved again and again.

Death to chronos ⏳

What stands out most to me about Hades 2 is how much less button-mashy it feels compared to its predecessor. Multiple dashes being removed has not only made it more accessible to mouse and keyboard players, but has also made its combat feel a lot more intentional. To add to this, there's the new cast, better music, better bosses, better story, better progression... the list goes on. Somehow Hades 2 adds more to what was already a near 10/10 game, and this is only in Early Access. I can't wait for its full release.

Its Hades again. The combat is so good. I've defeated Chronos and felt satisfied. I do think Chronos is cool, but not as cool as Hades. The second biome level design is good but the aesthetic design of the of the open field is bland. The hub area is also pretty bland. these are nitpicks that I assume will be altered in updates. I only like the axe and staff. These are nitpicks that I assume will be altered in updates. The surface is a nice variety. I'm excited for whatever they have in the future. Oh my Melinoë

Hopefully Hades lll doesn't take six years.
