Miles Morales is an iteration rather than an innovation on Marvel’s Spiderman. It adds slight refinements and upgrades to gameplay elements which made the original such a blast in 2018, with the venom abilities being the real standout addition. The venom abilities look and feel fantastic, not to mention being incredibly useful to turn the tide in combat and stealth encounters. I also love the personality which oozes in the animation design, making Miles feel distinct and full of flair. There are quality of life improvements elsewhere with improved side quests, though some quests types can get repetitious, and the game prioritising quality over quantity more with its collectibles. However, all these minor additions do not stop Miles Morales feeling a bit too familiar. Moreover, the story did not grip me like I was hoping it would because of the weak antagonists and largely unengaging narrative. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed my time with Miles Morales; it just feels like Insomniac has all the pieces there to make a truly special experience but are held back my some poor design decisions which plague many open world games and various narrative shortcomings.

This was my first Insomniac Spider-Man, and it was a little overwhelming at first as it definitely assumes familiarity with the first game despite being a standalone release.
Personally fine with it being a shorter game, as I think I'd get bored if it lasted much longer and it's open world didn't seem to offer much variety to make me want to dig into it's content. Obviously, the main appeal is its traversal which is fun but because it’s so simple It’s a bit shallow.
You can see the inspiration from the Arkham games in the combat, but I find it strange how much the game pushes you towards stealth, because I don’t think it’s as much fun as the venom combat and the game seems to punish you not using stealth even if it’s not essential.
The little puzzle sections I generally wasn’t in love with, they often felt a bit unintuitive over what your goal is.
Ultimately, I’m not really the Sony AAA cinematic/open world guy. So, I knew going in a lot of these things would be issues to me and the story wouldn’t be very engaging as I’m not a Spider-Man guy. But I still got a fair amount of enjoyment out of my time with this, as a sort of free if you have PS Plus game, so I don’t regret playing it.

As with all these games, very technically accomplished. The content of them is kinda like trashy food to me, and this one is no exception. Not a huge challenge or very engaging, but easy to just zone out and play through them.
The story was predictable but good enough, I think Miles is a great character. There are fewer annoying side activities than SM1 but the core issues I had with combat being kinda dull and the stealth sections just bad remain unchanged.

This game felt small. What I mean by that is that everything this game did, was done already and better by its predecessor Spider-Man 2018. It is short, its story is concise and honestly quite boring, and it does not really introduce much new aside from its new combat gimmicks given to Miles. I do not look back on this title fondly, and it honestly felt like playing an expanded DLC.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales only likes to listen to the same three songs every year.
I wanted to make good use of my newly acquired PlayStation 5 so I decided to play the spider boy game. Being a distant fan of Spider-Man since the Sam Raimi films, I was curious, and genuinely excited, to see what the hype around this modern series was all about. I had my suspicions, and my suspicions were correct.
It is truly a Hollywood Marvel popcorn video game. Even the fact that they preface the game's own title with Marvel's indicates to consumers that what you are buying is a specific brand of video game. It almost acts as a seal of approval. However, nowadays its a signpost for familiarity and fatigue. All this Marvel stuff is like a bad rash that isn't going away. If Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was more like a hotdog or even a portion of cheesy nachos, I think I would've liked it better and feel fuller in my belly.
In saying all of this, the game does house some great moments. An excellent opening and some of the best open world traversal mechanics I have played with. However, I felt like I had already played this game before. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a jacked up modern incarnation of a tired formula.
If you hold a high regard toward these games, I totally understand because I thought the same about them twenty years earlier.

A lot shorter than 2018 Spider-Man, but still every bit as fun, so I’m gonna give it the full 5 stars. Honestly? I think I had even more fun with some of Miles’ electrical powers than I did with Peter’s abilities in the first game. And to top of it all off, traversing the city is as freeform & pleasant as ever & the story still keeps you invested right up till the credits roll. An excellent follow-up to an excellent game. If you’ve played both Marvel’s Spider-Man 1 & 2, I encourage you not to skip this one ---- the same quality is here as well.
Miles morales is the shorter and slightly weaker version of marvels spider-man. But the game is still great. I absolutely love Miles Morales as a character. Into the spider-verse is my favorite movie oat so his character holds something special to me and I love his interpretation here. The gameplay is an improved version of the OG, the venom abilities are insanely fun. The traversal stays mainly the same but I love the animations that miles has. Story is solid but not as good as OG. Overall game is a great shorter experience. 8/10
