Jogo Civilization desde o 2º e sempre acho que a série precisa de uma sacudida a mais. Não foi dessa vez.

you can mod anime girls into this game so its pretty good

It's a very good game, but it can unfortunately become very tedious at times. The science victory can be a huge bore.

My introductory title to the historical strategy genre, this game will always have a special place in my heart. The experience was further augmented if you play with mods. Just remember that the modding community for this game is rather inactive, since it's no longer the most recent installment. That being said, I still highly prefer this game to its successor due to its realistic art style.

See I've played like 300 hours of this and the only way I could win was by being smarter than everyone else bc any time I tried to pick fights i'd get my ass absolutely whooped

There were some mechanics V did better, some VI did better, but I lean in favor of VI overall. Really fun way to pass time as you build your empire and go for the different victory conditions. Kind of wish diplomacy were more interesting between nations. Still good and worth getting if it's cheaper than VI.

Going back to this after Civilization VI is almost impossible, the gap in complexity is blinding.

(Review from 2020) Civilization V is amazing, I've put so much time into it, it's unreal. The achievements are really what keep the game sticky, as it encourages you to try a bunch of strategies to fulfill various gameplay goals. I do wish it ran a little better on my laptop though. And I do find that quick games aren't well calibrated to some victories, so I have to play the longer-format ones to get my cultural victories, in particular.

Yes, I've had my Civilization phase in my gaming life. I think a lot of people had that. Mine was civ IV and V.
Loved these games. But remember - never buy the base edition - wait until complete versions are released with all the DLC and fixes. Because going from IV full to V basic was rough. And I forgot it once again when I went from V full to VI basic.

I think the publisher knows something we don't because this game never goes on sale anymore. Every other Civilization game does, pretty good discounts too, except for this one. At this point I think it might be cheaper to buy Civilization VI.
Regardless, this is my favorite Civilization game. I feel like it's the most engaging out of all of them and doesn't have the same issues as IV with the square tiles and doom stacks or Civ VI's mobile game looks, wacky mechanics and bad AI.
Civilization V isn't perfect by any means, as an example, both Civ IV and VI have the loyalty system which I prefer for the most part, but overall this is the installment I like the most to the point it's almost dangerous because of powerful of a time waster it is.
Also, my biggest issue with the series in general is how progress itself is a force greater than the traits of any individual leader and thus every game you sorta revert to the same strategies on average. However, as I implied to before, that is hardly something that can be pinned down on a single entry. At least AI's have interesting quirks and personalities to keep things varied. I think you could technically keep playing this game forever, especially with mods.
To conclude, really good game, better than its sequel even depending on what you value. Just be careful because 4X games are like crack, but more addictive.

What started as a disappointing sequel ended its life as a wonderfully addicting strategy game.

one more turn one more turn one more turn!

ive never finished an online multiplayer game

objectively the best civ game ever released

Civ V + all DLC + Vox Populi is the ultimate Civilization experience to this day.

All time great strategy game. Sometimes I'll forget about it for a few months and then play it again and remember that its the best

It's cool but I honestly think it's dated by Civ 6.
