I found this game to be my favorite Game Boy game out of all the ones I’ve played. The soundtrack is good, the gameplay is simple but fun and not flawed. The only issue with this game is that you can’t have abilities like later Kirby games. But as the first Kirby game on the Game Boy, it plays pretty good.
I have now begun my Kirby marathon. My "Kirbython" if you will.
Most long running franchises don't have first games that hold up super well, but Kirby is one of the few exceptions. It's super short yeah but it's also just super replayable. It may not have a lot of the iconic elements the series is known for yet but it's a huge stepping stone not only for the Kirby franchise, but the GameBoy as a whole. Super charming and fun.
This playthrough was also the first time I've ever played Extra Mode and the enemies are so unfairly cartoonishly aggressive that its honestly fucking hilarious.

Very short and simple, but the level design holds up pretty well. The main game is like 30 minutes long, it does have an extra mode to go back through everything on a harder difficulty with new enemies and stud. But dang is the extra mode hard, the enemies just sporadically glide across the screen like it’s nobodies business.
A cute time knowing it was the pink puffs first game. Crazy knowing how much of this game has influenced everything Kirby going forward.

Such a short yet sweet game.
I really enjoyed playing it on stream, the music on every level was cute, the bosses were super interesting and you really should observe more your surroundings and get some tactics on how to beat many of them, which is why this game was super enjoyable for me.
Little Kirby is so cute in this one, i just couldn't stop saying ''awhhh'' to the little pixel art frame animations, it's just too good.... TOO GOOD.
Gameboy graphics will never fail to suprise or make me feel good. (even though this is the fist GB game i have actually played ever... so...)
It was quite repetetive and nerve-wracking at times because of how the levels were made and how the layout was, plus i was playing GBC so... the colors were really sometimes making me feel nauseous, and it was getting quite scummy at some point, but the sweet ending was worth it, i loved it.
Plus the scene where Kirby is holding a sign saying ''Bye, Bye!'' ah, precious, he is THAT guy.
Right now i'm playing Dream Land 2 on stream, so if you want to check me out make sure to check me out on my Twitch: MaryyHill! :)))

You know, for a first entry it's pretty neato.
I feel like the short length would've been a pretty big detracting factor back in the day when you actually had to like, PAY to play this crud, but nowadays it's kind just neato being able to get through this whole shindig in like 20 minutes and say that you've experienced Kirby history.
The game is obviously simple but still pretty fun, I like how it really feels like you're on a quest to Dedede's castle rather then just going through a bunch of random levels just because, enemies and bosses are creative, music is iconic, and extra mode gives some fun replay value.
Not much inherently wrong with this one, but also not much that will make you shit your pants from excitement.

The feelings I have for this game are similar to those I have for mario land: it's amazing that they managed to make this run on the Gameboy.
This game in particular excels in aesthetic and personality: it has a very distinct and clear art direction, which is an admirable thing for a tiny portable game. Unfortunately it is a bit too simplistic, and it lacks a real gameplay hook, as in the ability-copying mechanic that Kirby has in future games. This first entry is just a cute, simple platformer, with unremarkable mechanics, somewhat dodgy controls, and a lot of heart. A solid enough foundation for the soon-to-be flourishing Kirby franchise.

Unreal Game Boy game, uncertain why people are allergic to rating games well on here. For a Game Boy side scroller and a first for Kirby it’s an amazing title, albeit short but it’s Game Boy! It is made for short spurts of gameplay. There’s a “harder” mode after the first run through, I play this yearly easily. Pity the copy abilities isn’t here but hey everything else is!
Ah, 1992, back to a simpler time for Kirby... But a bit too simple...
This game is the Kirby we know and love and I doubt I need to introduce to you what Kirby is about since you probably already played a more modern Kirby title in your life, it would be more interesting to point out what's missing from this title compared to the more modern Kirby ones.
The elephant in the room is obviously the lack of copy abilities, it really sucks to play a Kirby game without it since you don't really miss them till they take it away from you. This game is really short, though it kinda is the quirk of Kirby game since they all tend to be on the short side, this one is about 30 minutes long.
If there's one unique thing about this game is the difficulty, it's easy as hell! And for a Gameboy game it's honestly a miracle since Gameboy and NES games used to be hellish to complete, making this game feel more modern and well uh... finishable.
Should you play this game? Why not, it's part of Kirby's history and it's short as all hell.
