from watching the babysitter’s kids playing it (too young to play), wanting so bad to play it myself, finding a used copy in Maine on family vacation, realizing it wouldn’t work because it was scratched, biking it to the convenience store to get it repaired, waiting a week to go pick it up, finally playing it on PS2, and now playing it on an overkill PC and having insane kill count competitions with Andrew, it’s been a wild ride. love to boot it up often and ride the nostalgia wave.
A fun Star Wars game. Growing up I played the second one more but this was a decent warm up. Solid maps and playing as Stormtroopers just blasting enemies away will never not be satisfying.
A shame you can't play as any heroes and the camera is a bit too up close even in third person for my liking plus the fact you can't sprint is dumb.
A Lord of the Rings game done in the style of Battlefront would be awesome.
This era of Star Wars games will always have a special place in my heart though.

Battlefield Vietnam with a Star Wars skin.
It's dumb Star Wars sandbox fun that we always wanted as kids. It hasn't really aged well in terms of the gameplay department. Everything feels stiff and shooting things is not very satisfying. But back in the day this was really well made. A lot of good content for star wars fans.
Two eras with a handful amount of well made maps. Lots of different classes to choose from. A good selection of vehicles in every map. There's just so many ways to play, any fan of SW will find some sort of fun.
The best thing about Battlefront are how large scale the battles feel, like they were right out of the movie. You see blasters, lasers, ships, explosions all around you as you are running to your next objective and makes you feel like you're on Normandy beach. You can have a lot of fun with this one with just Singleplayer mode, but Multiplayer is also there as an option for those who want more longevity from the title.

i played the classic collection version they could have done a bit more work on it IMO for how heavy of a download this game is but I love that era of games I have no issue raw dawgging it.
Huge nostalgia for these games so it was nice that within probably one of the worst weeks of my life in the past few years I still got to unwind and play a classic. and It hold up well obviously game feel has come a long way lol but the sense of a war zone maps that feel big but are also small and dense enough that are always packed with players the various vehicles the sounds omg it is just so immersive in a way I feel most multiplayer games really aren't like why don't modern battlefront and hell battlefield games feel like this? is making a game that is viable for competitive play that important?

The year is 3248. Civilisation lies in ruins. The human race is near extinction. I'M STILL SHOOTING THIS DROIDEKA HOW MANY BULLETS DO THEY TAKE FUCKING DIE. AND THAT'S IF I CAN REACH THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE, YOUR MOVEMENT SPEED IN THIS GAME IS COMPARABLE TO ME CIRCA 1998, AKA A TITTY SUCKING 1 YEAR OLD.
The game's awesome, the sprawling landscapes, intricate corridor networks and vehicle variety make the scope feel HUGE and, when you finally do find an enemy after five minutes, you find ALL the enemies, leading to frantic, adrenaline fuelled clusterfucks where the fast time to kill assures high pressure standoffs and a feeling of flow state as your momentum hurls you from enemy to enemy.
The jank elements get fixed in the sequel, meaning there's not really much reason to play this nowadays as it's literally just this game but better, but on its own merits it's fucking fire.
