I'm a fan of the Assassin's Creed series, but I think Valhalla felt bloated. Even the base game is massive. The combat was really fun. I enjoyed the story and some of the characters, but it didn't seem as focused as the games that came before it in the series. Ubisoft has got to start reeling in the scope of the AC games, cause the size of these open worlds are getting beyond ridiculous. With the way Valhalla wrapped up though, I'm certainly interested in seeing where the series is going.
This game was longggg. I enjoyed a lot of the story, but my God was I tired of just liberating area after area. Each time I thought I cleared the last area, there was more to go. Just felt like a chore at the end. I had to take breaks a lot. I don't even think I beat it fully with story outside the Animus. I beat the main viking story and collected Thors armor, good enough for me.
I have never been so disappointed with a title.
I love the theme and the general idea of this title.
BUT everything I hate in ORIGINS and ODYSSEY were even exemplified here. Although the item and looting system here is not as bloated as Odyssey, it still has the same problem being bloated, endless, boring and overall a tiring experience.
What pissed me off the most was the mythical aspect of the game itself. Yes, the franchise has been utilizing the mythical and magical elements since the beginning. But this one was straight emphasized in a way where it just made me quit.
I want to play ASSASSIN'S CREED not force myself to do a route and play a knock-off walmart version of God of War.

Well, It is a little harsh to say that the game was mid-mid, but It kidnda was. Though, I think it is still worth playing. It is pretty fun at times, but I wish it wasn't so much repetitive and to see more of the future or other temple futuristic stuff. The story basically consists of short mini-stories for each of the territories that you want to become allies with. For me it was impossible to remember all of them and each of them is pretty bland. The combat system is nothing fancy, for me it was basically "click R1" since the special ability is not always available, and powerful attacks are way to slow. Oh, and one of the greatest sins: I did not reach the appropriate level naturally when I was casually progressing through the story, so I had to fight level 300 enemies while being level 180 which made impossible the battle with the mf who jumps between mountain tops (had to switch to medium difficulty), but thankfully, all the other parts of the game were hard in a good sense (on anything but hardest difficulty this game is a cake walk) but not impossible, so I didn't have to switch. And of course WHY THERE ARE NO SIGNS WHICH SAY WHICH MISSIONS ARE THE MAIN ONES? Why do I have to watch a tutorial to not complete all the dumb sidequests in search of what I want? And finally THERE ARE NO CREDITS!!!! I was so disappointed, like deamn, what did I spend 56 hours on? I at least need to know that I finished this bs...
If you love Vikings then I highly suggest checking this game out. Although it is not the best RPG in the AC series (I'd give that to Odyssey), Valhalla is very much so naturally more fun to me. From the combat being reworked to weapons actually having weight to them on attacks. The gameplay felt more fluid and fun. Visually this game is beautiful! The god rays/lighting especially in this game are intense and glorious. Traveling through varies parts of England was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The biggest compliment I could give this game is ironically the biggest issue/con I gave to Odyssey, which would be the story. Valhalla is a lot more story driven than Odyssey and it's story very early on is more interesting than what I experienced in the previous game. I loved the style of side quest being random encounters, almost gta-esque was refreshing for the series. Several of these quest are actually hilarious and entertaining, making them stand out and be memorable.
So if you enjoy story driven RPG's and have a love for Viking's then Valhalla is definitely a fun experience

Never gonna get the platinum, love the combat and characters but it was way too long and there is just way too much shit to do. One mechanic seemed useless to me as well that being the distrust zones.
No need to change the name but whatever. Distrust does not mean attack on sight so putting my hood up and still walking around town like no big deal was kinda annoying if they are gonna kill me on sight anyway.
At least flyting, drinking and the dice game were fun.
