you really just have to appreciate how you can accidentally stumble into a quest that takes around 4 hours where the only thing you know is just pure suffering, you really have to appreciate how bethesda didn't consider putting any warning at god damn all and lock you into a dlc you don't want to play for 4 hours of your life. The game overall is pretty ok i guess
Was good when I was a kid just shooting mutants in the subway. Now as an adult the history is laughable, quests are painful and the game is far to easy to give me any sense of an unforgiving wasteland. Ending is actual garbage and the DLC ending feels like the developers are pointing a finger at you and laughing.
Hundreds on hours on PS3 finally on PC. If you can get this game running on a modern rig which I finally did after a year by God get ready for one glorious experience. Modding like in NV and 4 make the game even better and allows you to do things like get Iron sight etc. My favorite fallout.

Fallout 3 is a game that I wish I had experienced when it came out. Instead, I made the mistake of playing it after New Vegas, so for the duration of my playthrough I was constantly comparing the two (consciously or not). Unfortunately, Fallout 3 lacks much of what makes its brother special. It’s the small things, like how the “evil” options are often less about trying to greedily improve your own situation even at the expense of others and more just swearing and being generally rude. That being said, the game does deserve major props for transforming a 2D isometric turn-based RPG into a 3D open-world shooter and sticking the landing. Yes, it has classic Bethesda bugs, but overall it’s a solid product with significant cultural relevance.
So much fun! I was sucked into this world so easily and I found myself wanting to play every day. I played non-stop for about a month until I finished all of the main quests, DLCs, and most of the 'main' side quests. I loved this game and was satisfied to finally put it down. I was max level and did everything I wanted to. And I didn't do the unthinkable...

I played through the dlcs, main story, and all the side quests I happened to come across. I wish Fawkes could have joined me for more dlc content; but, he was fun to have around when he was allowed to be there. I miss my papa.
I played very close to vanilla, just:
• Updated Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch
• OneTweak
• Fallout 3 Tick Fix
• Command Extender
• Fallout Script Extender
• Vortex Archive Invalidation (listed in mod list, but is part of Vortex I think)

This game singlehandedly made me love Fallout as a franchise. People will get caught up in Obsidian superiority complexes, but I think Bethesda absolutely knocked it out of the park here.
I will definitely say that this game is more linear than New Vegas, only facilitating 1 or 2 extra playthroughs for other endings. However, it takes that design decision and makes a Main Quest far more interesting and fun to play than a good chunk of the New Vegas Main Questline. If you're only gonna play through once - Fallout 3 is the far better choice.
