This is worse than the time I was reviewing Family Guy Video Game!

Lowkey this game kinda funny.

Fun game, it's freaking sweet Family Guy, Lois! You switch between Metal Gear Brian, Streets of Peter and Stewie sections feels more like the games of its era (but that's not a bad thing!). I also like how they used cutaway gags as minigames now, invisible walls are done a little lame but oh well. Outside of that this is a really fun game as I quite enjoyed it. The gags are great too lol. Same developer as Ben 10: Protector of Earth btw!

this was the first game i ever played

i wish it could've been something better

When you think about it Nomura probably has the resources to include this in Kingdom Hearts if he felt like it

I would assume that a mid 2000s family guy game would be funny, or at least ironically enjoyable. That was the worst part, it just was not. It was not entertaining at all.

This is not how I hoped they would handle doing a Family Guy game. The Story is that Bertram plans to take over the world with young child minions, and Stewie goes into Peter's testicles to find out all he can to stop him, causing Peter to hallucinate, and beat everyone up, thinking they are working for an fictional character he wants to take down, and Brian gets accused of inappropriately touching Carter's dog, and has to break out of prison, and find out how to prove his innocence, LOL, but wait, I have more of an act to follow, first up, Stewie says he needs Lois to unlock the door, but Brian opens it normally, also Stewie says his mind control devices is intended for humans, and get this... he never uses it on Bertram, later on, nurses try to kill themselves by running into lazers, and they don't go in head first, which is the only reason Stewie gets a coil, Brian never asks for a DNA test to end his problems immediately, Stewie only gets to Peter by getting death to kill the nurses, when he didn't have to do that, and when they are concluded, they are not satisfying as they range from what you expected to happen, to I hate Peter, I hate Peter. The Characters are the same as the show, shame they weren't used well. The Graphics are awful, look like unfinished textures of the shows characters. The Gameplay has you make your way from one goal to the next with Stewie sections are 3rd person shooters, Brian's sections are stealth (badly done), and Peter's sections are fighting levels against people that don't deserve it, making me what to beat up the character I play as instead, Also if you get caught by the naked men in the shower they come after Brian to "supposedly" do stuff with him, and he should have been seen anyway, the game also has stealth sections that don't work when the camera covers up people that could see you from offscreen, also I didn't know morgue chambers lead to different ones, this game has cutaway jokes as well for minigames... and they aren't even funny, Brian's gets past the cops by wearing a lamp shade, and doesn't even use it all the time, later a dangerous kids play area shows up, and the treasure at the end of this rainbow are pointless large bolts. The Music is too basic to care about, minus the sounds from the show. The Family Guy Videogame is the funniest game to describe... wait that's not on purpose?

A friend in middle school lent me this, and Super Princess Peach and I think I lent her Crash Twinsanity and Final Fantasy X. I think I got the better deal here.

meh (esse jogo me fez detestar crianças)

- Saw dunkey play this
- In reality, a very repetetive game
- Its short length & wackyness is the only thing that kept me playing

The 2000s were a weird time. When I was 11 years old, I went on a fun day in Geelong where my mum bought me this game. We later saw Epic Movie at the cinemas (lmao). Replaying this game recently made me remember I actually finished it in 2007, hence why I'm logging it.

In any case, Family Guy Video Game! is one of the most uniquely awful video games I've had the displeasure of playing. The gameplay as easy as you'd expect (I mean, this was a game marketed to fans of the show and not gamers), but the writing is painfully unfunny (which is important for a comedy themed game NOT to do--yet it's also Family Guy, who what did I expect?). I think the weirdest part of the whole game is how it feels like a children's platformer/shooter/action-adventure, borrowing elements of the Futurama game or even The Simpsons: Hit and Run, but those games are geared to a younger audience.

Was Family Guy Video Game! also trying to appeal to a younger audience despite the risque humour? I'm not sure, but it feels like a confused mess gameplay-wise. Also, it overstays its welcome with its lame humour. There's a reason I forgot that I finished it.

This game is just... horrible. It really is. I'm sorry, but my god is it badly designed. Some of the jokes definitely hit. Stewie sections are honestly decent. The cutaway gag minigames are good and funny. I like how each character has different gameplay. And yeah that's all I have to praise.

The platforming isn't all that good during the Stewie levels. They can be annoying. The Peter levels went from being decent and fun to being incredibly awful. The beat em up style gameplay for him is incredibly badly designed. But oh my god don't even get me started on the Brian levels. They are so awful. Even worse than the Peter levels. His stealth levels are horrible. It made me incredibly frustrated through the entire time I played as him. Especially when some of his sections made it infuriating to go through without being caught. Also them gave him a meter to have him get out of the opening to piss and do.. other stuff that I'm not gonna say. Also why is Spongebob music in this game?

Overall, I honestly gave up on this game. I don't wanna play it ever again. Fuck this game. Never gonna play it again. Outside of the Stewie levels, the gameplay is entirely frustrating. Nothing to praise. Hopefully Back to the multiverse is better but... I don't even know.

I got a PSP now, and for some reason, this was the first game I picked up. The art style is amazing, matching the show perfectly. The gameplay is fairly ridiculous, which fits the vibe well, but I found myself getting pretty bored with it. Not bad for a licensed game in the 2000s though.

I give Family Guy Video Game! a 6!

I remember sitting there violently uncomfortable during the casino level. Different times huh. I was like 10

eheheheheh freaking sweet lois!! remember the time I was in a video game where brian sees naked gay men in the prison showers and has to avoid being seen by them????? like holy crap lois!! what the hell?? that was worse than the time I beat the living hell out of people??? oh man lois

hey lois remember when we were on backloggd

Funny game with memorable graphics, surprisingly plays really well.

I played this a ton as a kid, and I'll admit it now. I had terrible taste.

The Stewie sections are the best ones of the bunch. The platforming can be weird since really it's only the shadowdrop that's telling you where you're landing. The shooting is basically Galaga when it comes to having to deal with waves, everything else is an inoffensive lock on system.

Brian sections are ass. The line of sight is inconsistent, so sometimes the enemies are blind and other times they've got eagle eyes. I also experienced a glitch where Brian would pop up on a table he was hiding under.

Peter sections were the worst. Sometimes his fight combos just wouldn't input proper, which really makes the game a complete nightmare when it comes to bosses, which are a simple Simon Says with broken inputs. The giant chicken and the Black Knight were god awful.

The humor is on a worse level than the show if only because a lot of their jokes are basically quoting the show, or when wanting to make a celebrity reference they just have to say "that guy who was in that thing with that other girl" to avoid litigation. And 1 "video games are hard to make you guys" jokes was enough, they didn't need to go for 2 so close to each other.

Let's just say that this game aged about as well as any Family Guy episode. Terribly. Do yourself a favor and if you're really gonna play it? Just emulate it. Do not, by any means stick around for this one.

Have you heard of the term "Fun" ? Yea, that doesn't exist in this game

Being at a hospital with a bunch of women giving birth and then travelling through Peter's insides was insane but also my favorite part

It got really repetitive after awhile. Got bored with it. I might go back to it one day here soon, just to say i completed it. Only because i like family guy.

i would've kept going but it gets super hard for no reason

There's a reason Family guy episodes are only 20 minutes long.

Unless you're a huge fan of the show there really isn't anything here for you. Even if you are. You're probably better off just watching the show.

Sort of feels like the kind of thing that would have ended up in a young adults bedroom just so he could say to his friends "haha family guy game".

one of “the” games of all time. It translates the writing alright, but the gameplay is just so boring that it’s really a slog to get through. Peter turning into Bleter was very funny even if his whole Belvedere thing in this game was horribly unfunny. I didn’t laugh as much as I’d like but just knowing this exist makes me giggle a little.

It's not good.

Game-development has trended away from my preferred genres over time, and playing this in 2024 has inflated the relative quality of this game.

I like the genres represented here: platformers and STGs are, of relative intensity, represented in Stewie's sections, Peter gets the beat-'em-up portions, and Brian gets some straightforward stealth-gameplay. None of these are executed in particularly fleshed out or polished ways, and it's not fair to expect them to be since these 3 types of gameplay should be the sole focus of 1 individual game and not all be part of the same game. Though, the dev should be blamed for including the 3. It's an ambitious undertaking, and, even if all 3 were executed to perfection, the game shouldn't be alternating between them. They have to be this simple by necessity since they're all here. The game was doomed to fail by their simultaneous inclusion.

Stewie's sections are the best. They have the most variety and polish, and I imagine they got the most dev-time. He's got a double-jump, a glide, multiple charged shot-types, an upgrade-system, and a very deliberate sliding-mechanic. There's also a context-sensitive grapple-mechanic, but, aside from latching on for some optional collectibles, it basically just moves you to point B for free with no strategy behind it.

Peter's sections are next best. Enemies and objects are susceptible to a variation of attack-types and combos. Some enemies only take damage from punches, some only from kicks, vehicles only take damage from the head-butt combo, etc. He's got a meter that builds from item pickups, and allows use of a few special attacks. The early game spin-kick does high enough damage that it'll clear crowd-fights in 1 use, and can even take out the entire health-gauge of most boss-fights. His tackle knocks enemies over, and downed enemies can be picked up and thrown to instantly kill them and any enemy (enemies?) hit by them. The final super attack seemed to do high damage, but it's rare that you'll have the time to get it out in an actual fight due to its high-charge time. A spin-kick can usually achieve the same effect instantly.

Brian's sections are the weakest. Even as a fan of stealth-games, they're simplistic to a fault. You have an extremely limited set of options for manipulating "guard" patrols. There's a gauge that fills when they see you that leads to being caught as opposed to just instantly being seen, and you can briefly appear in their sight-line to stop them in place. I didn't personally find a use for this in my 1 run. The other option is to interact with a context-sensitive prompt that'll automatically move the guards somewhere else for you with no other input required from the player. You have a variety of disguises (cosmetic in terms of variety, not function) that just cause "guards" to ignore you, or not be able to see you when you're standing still. You have a simple crouch that allows Brian to hide behind walls or get under objects to hide. The last gimmick are objects that cause Brian to take control of the player to waste time with the added penalty of losing whatever disguise is equipped until Brian enters shadows. Shadows make Brian undetectable to all "guards". That sounds like more than it is, and there isn't a single section that puts it all to use at once.

The cutaways return in the form of minigames. They're sometimes placed at incredibly inopportune moments, like the beginning of a difficult section right after the checkpoint, but they're typically worth winning. Stewie's especially for upgrade-parts, Peter's vary in usefulness (they give meter, so it depends on if you need it or not), and Brian's give temporary invisibility (sometimes let's you skip entire sections, sometimes doesn't do much).

This game was not worth playing in 2006, but I'd take it over the majority of today's AAA releases. That opinion is based on what I grew up playing and my own sensibilities, and definitely may not apply to you. Again though, it's not good. Just good enough to finish. 2/5

My friend Nico was trip sitting me one time and he was doing a speedrun of this before it kicked in. Then he said I reminded him of Rufus Griffin

Don't listen to what others have to say. This game is a masterpiece imo. Nails the humor and tone of the show. I love how each character you play is a certain playstyle. I have a soft spot for the Brian stealth segments. And the addition of the cutaway gags as minigames is an absolute treat. Please let someone release this in modern day consoles.
