This is a super great version of Tetris. There are tons of unique game modes, many of which still have yet to reappear in any new Tetris games. The Nintendo entertainment system music and visuals are all awesome and makes the game have a very strong personality to it. My one complaint is the game-play takes place on the bottom screen for some reason.
When I first gave this version a go I found it a bit underwhelming and I’m over that now, but then am also underwhelmed in different areas. The standard Tetris game feels sooo good here. Maybe the best feeling Tetris I’ve ever played, and if I’m ever getting a twitch for it I’ll definitely be coming back to this one. The thing is the other mini-games aren’t really my jam. The ‘puzzle’ game is interesting, but fuck if I’m gonna do a billion of those, lol. ‘Catch’ is really promising, but I don’t really get it. I just never cracked the nut and figured out what could be really interesting about it. I really, really liked the ‘touch’ game’s concept but it plays so poorly. Rotating and sliding pieces never feels right on the first try, it’s like actually try to move human-sized Tetris pieces. So, like, Tetris is so perfect, and it feels so good here, and I think this is just jam-packed with some extras that range from “alright” to “good,” so, what can ya say? That’s a pretty good Tetris right there, I guess.
There's no real "completing" this game but I toyed with it to cool down after a long RPG, and yeah this was fun. The push, puzzle, and catch modes are all cool ideas, but not for me. The mission mode is GREAT, and the standard mode and touch mode sure are tetris. I like the nintendo aesthetics like everyone does. Great version of tetris. The real story here is how I got this for 3 dollars next to a sealed copy of Big Box Wii play and some broken coffee pots at a charity yard sale, but that’s for another day.
Forgot to log this somehow - there's no real "completing" Tetris DS as its just a compliation of various modes, but I felt pretty proud of clearing 200 Lines in Marathon mode on my first attempt either way.
A fun and relatively well made version of Tetris, but admittedly does not feel as incredible now as it did for its time. There's something to be said for the charm the NES nostalgia provides for the theming, but if it doesn't work for you, Tetris Effect (and Apotris) tend to be much better versions of Tetris in my opinion.

Like any other version of Tetris, it's a fun game to pick up and play. I played for an hour or so and see myself playing it more throughout this weekend. I'll update the rating and/or review if any big annoyances show up.
I enjoyed this version a lot and see myself going back to this one a lot more than others.
