This was the first metroidvania game I've ever played and, on my first few hours, I absolutely despised it. I stopped playing, and decided to try a few other metroidvanias, like Ori, Dead Cells and SteamWorld Dig. After about a year, I returned to Hollow Knight and, after getting a grasp on metroidvanias, absolutely loved every minute of it. If you're new to this genre of games start with either Ori or Steamworld Dig, and then play Hollow Knight. Doing so will let you appreciate everything this amazing game has to offer

I've been playing this game for the better part of my life. Literally. I bought it back in 2010 when I was 7 and, unbelievably, I still play it regularly with my friends. It has the perfect formula of always having constant updates, infinetly complex mechanics and mostly being super chill. This is the only game I can think of that I could recommend to anybody.

2018

My personal GoTY. Extremely refined battle mechanics, breathtaking visuals, a wonderfully written story, perfectly tied in to the roguelike mechanic, and an amazing soundtrack really makes this game almost infinitely playable.

An extremely fun game if you're playing with friends. However, due to the way the game is fundamentally, it's terrible playing with random people.
