Ranking the Inti-Creates Mega Men (Mega Man 10 not yet included)

I made that title way more confusing than I needed to. Never got around to finishing 10. Will say that Sheepman is the funniest thing in the series.

Mega Man 9
Mega Man 9
All killer and no filler, probably the leanest, tightest platformer I'll ever play that's just within my reach.

1

Mega Man ZX
Mega Man ZX
A sparkling and earnest attempt at moving beyond eight stages and a Wily gauntlet. Bless its heart.

2

Mega Man Zero 3
Mega Man Zero 3
Couldn't stop smiling when after some of the most meticulous and imaginatively designed stages in the sub series, Inti-Creates just casually dropped another 4 stages in front of me that somehow managed to be better. Mega Man games don't get more generous than this.

3

Mega Man Zero
Mega Man Zero
At the bleeding edge of the medium when it comes to fighting against a lopsided battle against a Fascist regime. Love everything about the Factory.

4

Mega Man Zero 4
Mega Man Zero 4
Where do you go after Zero 3? Zero 4's answer wasn't perfect but its down to earth and contemplative nature made it the conclusion this series deserved.

5

Mega Man Zero 2
Mega Man Zero 2
I appreciate how it knuckles down on the sort of intense and frictional challenge that its predecessor sometimes alluded to. Beyond that its conceptually and emotionally thin. Great intro stage though.

6

Mega Man ZX Advent
Mega Man ZX Advent
All filler no killer. Advent abandons what its predecessor promised in exchange for lots and lots of Stuff, more grey factory stages, more locks and keys, more that ends up being less. The Portrait of Ruin of all these games.
