Just finished Disc 2 and the twist that everyone hypes up as "ruining the game" is something that, while kinda corny, is such a nonissue that all it does is prove that everyone who hates this game is simply too weak
Go back to using a bad fan theory to cope with your inability to recognize a good game, losers

Bit harsh innit
FFVIII separates the adults from the children in the room.
There’s absolutely criticism to have about the twist but absolutely. Also the game is still pretty amazing technically coming off FF7. Feels like VIII and IX push the PSX to its limits
the twist is foreshadowed throughout the game, so people who say it comes out of left-field are wrong. the only real problem w/it that i dislike is irvine's "well you never asked!" explanation, but it's not game-ending like a lot of VIII critics claim.it's also balanced out by it giving the characters a lot more dimensions and depth imo
ngl i had to google what even in this game would qualify as a twist
Extremely based, getting hung up on what is, at worst, a clumsy coincidence, is some weak ass stuff.
playing the best final fantasy game and getting so hung up on the most inoffensive "twist" ever because it was delivered clumsily is one of the greatest filters in gaming. so many people have terminal early 2000s gaming magazine brain with this game
