i don’t care if this is a money grab, my mental illness won’t allow me to have the first game as a ps5 disc and not the second. also abby solos.

this was my favorite barbie game growing up so i'm giving it five stars.

this game took me over a month to finish. that's it, that's the review.

• lowkey wish they would’ve mistakenly put that george and nancy are dating on the new zealand teams list.
• i love that you can play raid in this, lmao.
• i was half watching the purge while playing most of this so let me just say ethan hawke is hot.
• oh, no! our george! it’s broken! :/
• the announcer lady is amazing.
• bess marvin is me in any social situation. also her eventual thirsting for sonny soon aka markiplier? same.
• i know most everyone hates this game but i lowkey really like it.
• patrick is a confirmed himbo.
• “let’s talk space, my boy!” 🥹
• the switch between the first and second confession of team matata was so good.
• leena having yumi’s voice is so odd.
• i love bess so much. >:((( also the cow story is wonderful.
• i’m so glad they didn’t make the submarine challenge super difficult.
• but also why is the sudden death puzzle so stressful for no damn reason?
• overall this is a pretty fun game, though i can see why it’s not highly regarded to many fans. ; maybe i just like it because i enjoy trashy reality tv.
• most of the puzzles were okay, but some of them were a bit overly complicated for my taste.

• this is just a pet peeve but i lowkey hate that they used lani’s voice for kate.
• making jammies is so soothing. <3 if only real life work was the same as making jammies in a nancy drew video game.
• nancy calling herself an accidental terror added ten years to my life.
• i love that they included the fight scenes between kate and carson instead of glossing over it.
• “have i ever missed a date?” “yes… all of the time.”
• the archery is so fun!
• “hey, if your dad catches me, do you think he’ll still be my lawyer?”
• “i gotta say if you’re so attached to your mom’s jeans, why did you take them on an international flight?” “those are mine.” “oh…”
• NANCY DREW DOES NOT DESERVE NED NICKERSON.
• as much as i love the atmosphere and story i do not like the puzzles. 😭
• it’s also really easy to get stuck. :/
• how crazy is it that the villain was considering luring nancy out to scotland by telling her that her mom is alive.
• it feels odd that moira and alec would be helping nancy and zoe in the end? maybe that’s just me though.
• the long complicated process of the ending annoyed me too.
• nancy’s letter in the end never fails to make me wanna cry.
• overall this is a great entry in the series, and after almost thirty games of investigating everything from ghosts to death threats to curses, it was fun to explore a mystery so personal to the titular character.

• this game is chef’s kiss. also it has so many good lines so most of this might just be my favorite ones, lmao.
• also, fun fact! there was an ipad version of this game that eventually got pulled from the app store.
• savannahsavannahsavannah.
• “i fell for her like a black tuesday banker. in the end, the landing was just as rough.”
• “i don’t speak ill of the dead, ‘specially not when they’re staring up at the soles of my boots.”
• “that’s pretty philosophical for a guy wearing boots.”
• why does nancy have the option to ask wade why he went to jail before she actually learns that information?
• “i’ve been running away from the next book, and an empty house that was fillin’ up with chatty ghosts. but who knows, when i’m out of gas maybe i’ll have no choice but to listen to what they have to say.”
• “they’ve dug so many graves on that rock that death himself is on the christmas card list.”
• why is colton so animated? 😭
• “that is just not going to happen since i made the mistake of having friends with personalities.”
• “i wanted to be her when i grew up. but then one day i was older than my older sister, and older still today.”
• overall i really love this game. ; this is the first spooky one since shadow at the water’s edge, and the story of a family destroyed by decades of tragedy was well done and kept my attention the whole way through.
• i wasn’t a huge fan of a majority of the puzzles, but some were easy enough that i was able to complete without the hint system.
• also this game might be the best one in terms of dialogue. ; the characters were fun to listen to and never once did they make me want to use the newly added conversation skip feature.

• a nancy drew game with facetime? hell yeah.
• why are ryan’s arms so weirdly proportioned?
• some of the dialogue feels forced and awkward, much like the remaster of secrets can kill.
• there is no way nancy is hurting herself that badly when she’s walking through the dark lounge.
• “nancy! frank was just talking about you!” 👀
• deirdre. <3
• the addition of the hint and solution system is such a godsend. i wish they would’ve done it earlier, honestly!
• ryan is a lesbian. no, i will not elaborate.
• overall it’s okay, i guess. ; i’ve never been super interested in science so this wasn’t a very fun one for me, if you can’t tell by how little i wrote about it. 🥴
• the graphics are pretty good though, especially when you take into account these three things: when the game was released, this in comparison to the first few games, and the fact that this company was still actively pumping out said games on the regular.

• rest in peace to the case file openings. :( truly a lost era.
• i love when they include callbacks to old games.
• i thank the gods of her interactive for the quick translate button.
• fun fact: i only used the quick translate button once, lmao.
• “with that amount of swagger, you’d think he invented sand.”
• “long distance burn, jazz guy.”
• professor hotchkiss is such a fun character, i love it when they bring her back.
• how does nancy not bust her skull trying to hop across those columns?
• overall? i don’t know man… i feel like we as humans need to leave ancient artifacts and mummies and so on in their final resting places, and that we need to stop acting like we know what’s best.
• the puzzles were okay, but i found myself referring to the uhs walkthrough a lot.
• also this game, much like the creature of kapu cave, has plot points that are easily skipped if you aren’t careful, which is never fun.

• nothing like starting things off with a bang! … sorry, couldn’t resist.
• why did they call themselves team danger when they could’ve been the clue crew? it’s right there!
• “i don’t know if i can even get calls in here.” meanwhile all of her friends are able to call her.
• are you even a nancy drew fan if you don’t sit and eat every flavor on the menu at scoop?
• ned’s a real one for not wanting to flirt with deirdre at first, even though it was important to the investigation. <3
• “aren’t you worried about seeing justice done?” “no, i’m a reporter.” oof.
• alexei’s story is so interesting, i would’ve killed to see him in another game.
• all the easter eggs in this one from previous games, namely the phone backgrounds all being covers for the twenty-four other games in the series at that point in time, is so cool.
• i kinda hate how later into the games you get the less descriptive and thorough the task list becomes. :/ maybe that’s just me but i’m dumb and forget what i’m supposed to be doing at times.
• childhood me thought in fifty years the company would reveal what nancy put in the time capsule, similar to what they did for zoey 101. ; how do i tell younger me that the company stopped making regular games and likely won’t be around long enough to do it?
• seeing how much you spent on ice cream at scoop is a cute touch.
• honestly didn’t type much for this post while i was playing because i was high and my husband kept talking in his sleep and knocking my laptop with his long ass legs. 😭
• ANYWHO! overall this is a very homey game, and is surprisingly unapologetic in the way it speaks about politics and justice. ; three of the suspects will outright tell you that those in politics are corrupt, that true justice is rarely important to those in charge, and how everyone is ultimately out for themselves. it’s very well done, especially for a company who’s had several blunders over the years regarding sensitive topics.
• also, exploring a town quickly turning on the heroine they once showered with love and adoration the second she’s accused of something heinous? fascinating.

• i wanna start this off by saying that i love this game so much and i have such fond memories playing it as a kid.
• frank and nancy forever. ned deserves better by the way.
• i hated raid as a kid but i love it as an adult.
• why am i able to remove a key from a painting with karl in his office? 😵‍💫
• anja is for the girls.
• i need to know the mechanics of the snack machine in this game. ; where is it all stored, is it fresh, how do you keep it all nice and warm?
• markus = sacha baron cohen.
• so renate can call me a liar but when i do it back she gets mad?
• the owl book feels mildly offensive.
• “maybe one day we’ll work together on a case.” “it’d be nice to stumble across a nice mystery now and again.” the foreshadowing in these games can be so good sometimes.
• “thanks for being such a good friend.” “no problem. it’s… good to see you two back together.” FRANCY FRANCY FRANCY.
• “ask us about our wizard discount.” “oh i’m sorry, that’s been discontinued.”
• me listening to the villain explain their reasoning: honestly… i understand.
• okay but how did the villain in this one get so much time behind bars? they didn’t really do anything that catastrophic, and compared to villains of games past this seems a little excessive.
• did we ever get our special surprise?
• overall i think this is such a good game, but that might be because it’s so nostalgic for me.

• i totally understand her is a small company on a budget, but they couldn’t have hired japanese voice actors?
• “what happened to your mother?” JEEZ.
• i love getting to grade homework. <3
• doing the katakana lesson on a touchpad sucks.
• also the backing portrait has me in a fetal position.
• her interactive letting people use dave gregory as their phone background: the hoes gon loveeeeeeee this.
• why does nancy OPENLY admit to looking through yumi’s things?
• come to think of it, why does she do most of the things she does in this game? 🥴
• i wanna kiss savannah, she sounds so cute.
• are bess and george just dropping things off at the ryokan and not saying hi to nancy?
• “a ghost doesn’t need to be real to haunt you.”
• how did nancy record the conversation between yumi and miwako and not hear or see it happening? why did they not see her hiding behind a tree? why am i trying to make sense of this game?
• the puzzles in this one just make my head hurt. i’m looking at you, cache puzzle.
• so nancy says after many months of begging miwako allows rentaro to repair some of the damage he’s done… why am i writing a closing letter months later? was nancy in japan that long? 😵‍💫
• exploring themes of japanese traditions and a family struggling to grieve is wonderful, but the story her interactive is trying to convey is a bit muddled by clearly white voice actors trying to do accents, nancy being incredibly insensitive even for her standards, and some of the culture included seems a bit stereotypical. probably one of my least favorites despite it ranking so high for others.

• throwback to the handwritten opening letters. <3
• there they go again with those damn awkward pauses. 😭
• daryl flirting with nancy made me lose ten years of my life.
• that first conversation between hulk and nancy is so bad and feels all over the place.
• honestly all the conversations in this game feel very awkward and forced.
• “i’m not talking about air conditioning i’m talking about you threatening me.”
• why is nancy allowed to just waltz on into the employees only section of the diner?
• “i can handle my studies” “i’m behind in my studies and i must get back to the library.”
• love just repeating the same wrong combo and detective beech not saying anything, lol.
• this is a very short game.
• definitely an improvement on the first one regarding graphics and some of the storyline.
• other than that it’s nothing to rave about.
• though i do love all the easter eggs from both past and future games.

• what’s with pa and the long pauses?
• i feel like they probably thought it would make the conversation feel more authentic but it didn’t, it just makes it uncomfortable.
• i really hated having to trap mice three times.
• i lied, it’s actually sort of relaxing to do.
• “we need you to chase down the bad guy before he gets away but let’s have an unskippable three minute conversation before you leave because why not?”
• feels way shorter than i remember.
• seriously how is this game six days long? you get up, do two chores, and then debbie’s telling you to go to bed.
• honestly there’s just not that much else to say about this one.
• it’s sorta boring but i also have a soft spot for it.

• isn’t it like, against the rules for the student body president and library assistant to make you do their homework for school information?
• tell me why i took leela’s picture at least five or six different times only to find out you don’t have to zoom or pan ANY of the photos besides one?
• i love snack shop duty.
• honestly i love any cooking in these games, it's always so much fun.
• the villain got expelled but not arrested for purposefully causing someone to have a severe allergic reaction? WHAT?

• the racist one.
• honestly though even if it didn’t have a character doing blackface it would still be an awful game.
• why are the monkeys still throwing rocks at me even after i gave them the ball?
• the sand puzzle at the end can go fuck itself. :)
• so can the key puzzle.
• shorty thurmond should’ve been the villain they brought back.
