It has its flaws here and there, the combat system is improved in some regards; many enemies still do not seem designed to be fought by Dante properly, but he's fucking cool to play as anyway, he has such an amazing potential in this one. OST is a step-up from the previous ones. I get why is somewhat controversial and many consider it a step-down from 3, to which I agree to a certain extent but also had a great time playing it, so I'm more willing to forgive this time.

Using Trish is simply delightful. Like, holy hell, I want to play an entire game or spin-off with her.

I like Nero, he is a good kid.

Next stop, DMCV.

As good as frustrating.

As far as my experience goes, there's a great game underneath quite the annoying enemy design (enemies that can go through walls and stay there in a fast-paced game with combo meters can go to hell, among others) and a wonky, clumsy, often-bad camera paired with a positional dogde which do not work well in tandem.

Cutscenes, presentation and combat system itself are really good.
Vergil is rad. Final boss fight against him also is.
Chapter 19 boss wasn't as bad as I'd heard/read, surprisingly enough. I'd even dare to say that it's pretty okay.

Swordmaster + Beowulf + Lock on + ↓ B (Style button) best attack in the game.

This is clearly one of those 7/10 games in many different ways... I don't even know where to start. I'd rather focus on the positive aspects which seem to be more overlooked in reviews.

- The voice acting is done by VA of different nationalities, which gives a certain flavour to it. I don't know if it's just the different accents/cadence of people not speaking their native language or just that they are doing their best but it has those ending-1990s/begining-2000s kind of cheesy voice acting which contributes to its "7/10 out of the past times" identity.

- At the beginning the combat may seem to be a little bit janky, and some parts of it indeed are with the genre-characteristic wonky camera, attacks coming out of it sometimes and stuff, but it's really satisfying in general. The finishers felt fine to pull off and the bosses are a mixed bag, although not many, half of them are cool. Fun and direct combat that is fun to play, what else did you want from this?

- The OST is quite good to be honest. I was disappointed in the club stage where they played a remix of "Maniac" by Michael Sembello to not be used on the actual level... damn, I really wanted to kill mobs while listening to it.

- The story has some interesting points here and there and others are just all over the place. You know, 7/10 vibes. The dialogue has some funny bits and there're plenty of references to pop culture that some younger audiences may not get but they are kinda corny so I'm all in for it anyways. The ending and the story end way too soon, like something was missing there, but fuck it, if we get another game down the line then fine, if not, you can accept it as is and roll with it.

- It has in-between levels minigames! They're not all great but again, add up to give the traits of a 7/10 game. The bullet hell side-scroller mecha minigame rules though.

- Also, it's got an explorable hub, which is always a plus in an action game for me.

- Chainsaw.

Just play for the vibes and the action and you won't get dissapointed.

Didn't expect the last stretch to hit me from the back.

This is regarding Two Memories. I have not finished the 2nd game yet, but I have a few comments on it. I played it with my partner, since I had already played it back in the day so she could have the full experience, now, did she?

- Pros: the game looks really nice. I don't mind some lower textures here and there, it looks pretty in some spots, especially some of the rooms, and it highlights some of the game's emotional scenes.

- Cons: they butchered some really important details about the Edward family. There's no way around it, they are important since their conflict is half of the game and this iteration removes information about them. The core conflict isn't clear or nuanced enough for a first time player and it downplays some of its emotional moments like the Thomas-Henry fight, finding D's shoes or the ending itself.

Couple this with a few dissapointing puzzles and no, you don't get the same experience of playing the original. A similar one, yeah, but not the same.

Full completion with DLCs and missions.

He really was the angriest man alive. His lore? Being pissed off. Fueled by pure anger. Moved by hate and contempt towards authority. A real one.

I know it resorts to a few safe jumpscares but we were scared shitless from the first one to the end.
