visual novels are a medium people are most familiar with where you allow yourself to be taken by the writer's hand through their mind in place of a protagonist who we are made aware is not the ideal lead to be seeing through but a questionable one which leads to transgressive ideas that could be dissected, discussed for hours in a video essay, debatable to be on par to classic literature that works as a social commentary and look into the perspective of the young adult/teen experience that is capable of being resonated with in terms of situation or thoughts we have or want to say portrayed in the most hyperbolic literal sense next to its execution in retaliation to the hardships we are put through. Multiple choices of clicking through controversial imagery/writing making you ask if it all will be worth it for a profound conclusion of spending 30-100 hours in exchange for either a lingering thought or closure that you will you come back to as a smiling reminiscent feeling similar to remembering an old friend you've had ups and downs with but grateful for the experience and at the realization no other has understood you more than them

well i haven't read a visual novel like that but Class of '09 managed to do it in 5 hours or less

2021

i wanted cannibalism and I got it, the bl was an appreciated bonus

a cruel god reigns if it was actually good

this the worst and best visual novel ive ever read, only thing keeping it being good is the yaoi

gay mean girls, no really how are these guys friends

made this be someone’s first experience with toku

it was fun with its unique gameplay, i enjoyed it as a kid a lot but it definitely wasnt worth 11$ when you had to buy more songs to play and the videos in the bg was just from project diva arcade.

it was cool for what it did to try to scare you and what it did with its characters for a short read but outside of that i found this to be a quite boring short vn and forgettable outside its gimmicks that everyone talked about, it shouldnt be compared to vns that are hours length with more deeper concepts but i also don't think its horrible, it was just something everyone in 2017 jumped on for its shock value with a cute anime girls and probably got people invested in the vn genre a bit.

That being said the only 2 things i remember about this vn is the jumpscares and how dan salvato took a jab at tsukihime satsuki's character even though he oddly has a character in this vn with a similar writing/concept as her

good ending and main story but the slice of life stuff can be really cringe or boring

visual novel for people who enjoy being sad, a rich set of stories with amazing characters, relationships, and atmosphere
