Cat simulator with a twist! Worthwhile fugacious experience. Much like a shooting star, this game in its short run is capable of delivering a magical experience, that resounds within the chambers of my heart. Stray lives from its presentation, nailing every aspect, from its visuals to its setting and the resulting immersion from their harmonious balance that ulirmately delivers its touching story and subverts the intial expectations for what this game could be, built from the genre and trailers .
The gameplay is very smooth (although I did run into a bug that made me restart 4 times), even tho it's in a vacuum very simplistic and limited— granted most of the platforming and interactions are automatic and not highly interactive— the game doesn't extend long enough where it becomes noticeable or stale: most of the time there's something going down, as the story slowly unfolds before your eyes, you are presented a variety of characters, the setting constantly changes symbiotic to the story progression, creating very unique varied areas that give off just the right vibe through the atmosphere/music/ambientation elevating the immersion that sets them apart and makes them memorable. A highlight of this is the later area of Midtown that encapsulates the liveliest most active section of the game, mirroring the concept of a social stratum and working as a good beacon for what the themes and odwas the game is attempting to convey. Absolutely loved that area and spend most my time in it. The ending is a perfect emotional send off that brings the story full circle on a twist that had been building up since the very first moment that eerie curiosity from the mystery within the presentation and the cat protagonist kicked in on the initial minutes of the gameplay, making the experience a lot more memorable and outstanding, absolutely loved the twist and I gotta admit it did make me weep more than I can be proud of. Ultimately the game is a very fun, condensed experience that everyone should try because there really isn't anything like it and it's only about 5 hrs of your time or less, also the Platinum its very doable so there's that too. 8/10
