This game is an artistic triumph. Absolutely stunning visuals and music across the board. The gameplay kept everything that was good about its predecessor while improving upon its biggest weakness, the combat. It no longer feels like an afterthought and combined with the boss fights creates some really memorable moments.
A must-play if you like Metroidvania games.

This game is just barely fine. It doesn't really do anything well, its janky, it doesn't use its mechanics to their fullest, has low enemy variety, the story is bland, and in general is unpolished. It's reasonably short playtime stops it from outstaying its welcome I suppose. I guess this is why I've never heard anyone talk about this, far from the worst thing I've played but there are so many better action/hack n slash titles on the PS2.
One of those special games that appears maybe once a decade. BG3 is so incredibly dense when it comes to content that it feels like there is a major event around every corner, and just when you think you've done everything in an area, you find 3 new things off the beaten path.
The gameplay is probably the closest any major title has come to properly adapting the DnD ruleset into videogame form which is a refreshing departure from the oversaturation of CRPGs that use Real Time with Pause. The game does an immaculate job of capturing the freedom and ingenuity players have when playing tabletop DnD, though it has its limits due to being a videogame, which I can't fault it for.
On the artistic side, the graphics go above and beyond what you expect from a CRPG, especially regarding model and texture quality. The game is also fully voice acted which is INSANE for a game of this size, which combined with proper cutscene direction make a game in a normally text heavy subgenre very easy to digest. The soundtrack was also a quiet contender for one of the best of 2023, not quite as explosive or memorable as some of the others but did a great job of setting the tone and immersing the player.
There is a reason there was discourse when the game out about it being TOO GOOD. A must play for RPG fans and the new gold standard for CRPGs, perhaps even RPGs in general. One of the greatest games of all time.
