First off, I used to absolutely hate this game back in 2016 due to reasons outside of this game being with a former friend of mine and the fandom around this game. It took me years to not be traumatised by this game and I know it wasn't the game's fault. This game I was traumatised by I... really love the music of and would listen to it a lot. It took me until January 2021 to play the game again and well... I loved it and it is easily one of my favourite games of all time.

I especially love the music in this game, it is such perfect chiptune and sometimes it combines chiptune and normal instruments to create an absolutely beautiful soundtrack with my favourite video game music of all time ever being hopes and dreams.

I also love how weird the world can be, taking a lot of influence from Earthbound (which I still need to finish), and within the world I love uh most of the characters and some of the side characters. I do think some of the characters are admittedly weak and I do have a bone to pick with them, but the other characters strike a cord with me for the most part in some sort of way which makes me enjoy them a lot. Even the NPCs have a lot of charm to them like a monster who idols one of the main characters and cats that are on some sort of drug.

The combat in this game, isn't really the greatest and I wish the game could be less vague sometimes (in pacifist) is fun. The best part of the combat in my opinion, is when the opponent attacks due to it being something I haven't seen from any other video game where you're essentially forced into a microgame. Attacking is just technically JRPG-esc fighting.

The only problem really I have with this game is that pacifist (no killing enemies, not even one) is the only route with both a majority of story and fun gameplay. Genocide (murder all of the enemies) requires way too much grinding is way harder than pacifist. Neutral (kill some, don't kill some) just doesn't have any of the story beats from pacifist at the end which are some of the best story beats in the game.

Overall, I absolutely love this game and I think it's one of those games whom everyone should check out at some point and this is coming from someone who was traumatised over the game for many years.

If you think SA2 is bad, you're just wrong. I don't know what to tell you.

Brought much needed changes to formula for a franchise that I love a whole lot but had gotten quite long in the tooth. Full voice acting really helps things come together, biggest thing I would want from later titles is to ditch the player-insert characters and handle the queer aspects of the game better.

ah to be 14 years old again playing deathrun and listening to pendulum while people spam slurs on their mic <3
