Metal... GEAR!?!?!?!?!!

That's right, I liked Survive more than V.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Still the best one, baby!

Raiden is a great character, the twists are fantastic, strong thematic depth, and is an example a heavily integrated metanarrative done right. Gameplay is fantastic, all of the additions from Solid 1 are great ideas, lots of attention to detail, and boy is cutting down dudes with your ninjato at the end fun.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
I liked it before it was a meme, I played it when it came out and I was actually legally allowed to buy it. It's great, anyway, extremely fun, over the top, challenging though not as much as other platinum games, and the story is actually quite good. Raiden still the best. I get why some fans hate this direction for Raiden but in my mind 4 already fucked up the direction he was going in at the end of 2. I just pretend there's two timelines, this one and the better one where he just went off and was happy with Rose.

Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid
Second best of the Solid games, even with Blaustine's lousy script. I don't know what more to say, Snake is a good character, Meryl is a good character, Ocelot and Liquid are good villains, it probably has the best plot, I love the graphical style of the game, good set pieces, best Metal Gear design, all that stuff.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Also still really good but I prefer the first Solid. The bosses are way weaker than 1 or 2's, they're all so fucking 1 note. The Boss is a hit and miss character, but I like Eva, Young Ocelot, and of course Naked Snake, but Volgin's kind of a lame villain. Still has all of what you want out of these games, and I actually really like the survival mechanics stop being a baby.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
The prequel series was overall pointless and ended on a wet fart, but I do think Peace Walker was quite a good game. Haven't played or even really seen it since then so I don't remember a ton about it.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Way better than Phantom Pain In The Ass, highly replayable and the extra missions are fun, woulda been great if they sold this for 5-10 dollars and not, what was it, 30?

Metal Gear Acid
Metal Gear Acid
This game is actually pretty good, it has a wild story and I remember the card battle mechanics being good. Wanna play this again and play 2 some time.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
I have a lot hate relationship with this game. I think it needlessly convolutes the lore of the game, is hard to buy that so many of the crew from 3 did all this shit, and it ruins the surreal ending of 2 by solidifying it too much and moreover just pulling Raiden back into the action. What did throwing away the dog tags mean to you, Raiden? Many of the mechanics are half-baked and this is the one where you can play it as an action game the most, even more than V. Don't even get me started on the ending, the the magical nanomachines that can do ANYTHING, or how it doesn't explain Vamp running on water or not drowning.

However, it does do a lot of interesting things, fuck the opening TV shit alone makes this worth something. As many issues as it has, I kinda like that it makes characters like Snake and Ocelot so pathetic and old. If you didn't want this to happen to them, then let the story end, because this is the result when you force more conflict to happen to characters forever. They get old, the story gets old, it's a somber representation of this, meant to make that point. Yet it still celebrates the series, because Kojima does get it, with their tired strenuous fight at the end. It embodies both those things.

And then you know, the story keeps going after it should have ended and man, the perfect microcosm of what's wrong with MGS4.

Metal Gear Survive
Metal Gear Survive
This game is actually alright. Yes yes gotta pay for more save slots, it kinda sucks that you're locked into NG+ unless you delete your save. Konami's scummy. The game itself is actually decent. If anything I'm rating it too low, I enjoyed all the survival mechanics and base building. Scrounging for items and hightailing it back to base, judging when I should cut my losses and run, all sorts of stuff like that. Give it a chance man, don't just be UGH THEY DID THIS TO MY METAL GEAR, like give it a serious chance as it's own game.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
GAME'S SHIT I'M SORRY TO SAY

Lot of the missions suck ass, you can kinda just play this as an action game, it's fucking unfinished, so much of it's half-baked anyway, there are 2 whole maps wow!, gets old, tons of filler missions, almost impossible to do non-lethal runs, and the story when it exists is absolute disappointing dogshit barring a few examples. I know some people shit on the highly guided walking sim-esque cinematic opening but genuinely, best part of the game.
