Games of the Year - 2001

The late 90s and early 2000s were MY time growing up, and 2001's solid quality definitely showcases why I'm happy about this. The launch of the Pikmin franchise, Mega Man's then-underrated foray into 3D and the short yet sweet Luigi's Mansion are all some great games from my childhood. And Super Smash Bros. Melee? My name FrozenRoy is from maining the blue Roy color in that game! Monopoly Tycoon is also an underrated joy and I wish I could get the multiplayer down.

Now don't get me wrong: This isn't JUST childhood games. Klonoa 2 I only played in my adulthood and it instantly hooked me (part of the final boss' speech is currently my Discord Status). It's reeeal close up there. Now there certainly IS a lot of mid on here that drags it below some of the most killer years I have like 2004, but that doesn't keep it from a relatively high quality year!

Fun Fact: I didn't beat this game for a long time because I was afraid of bees when I was younger and the robot bees in one of the later underground dungeons spooked me.
Honestly a very weird case where this game has SO much more to it than the first, yet the first game clearly trumps it for me. I think Armada 1's superior story is a definite reason for that: It felt more "Star Trek" to me.
Honestly the current rating might be a bit harsh as I never quite grooved with it as a kid, I want to come back to it more sometime.
I like Stuart Little 1 and 2 as movies, fight me.

Finally starting to update Game of the Year lists I have with 10+ games to have more actual descriptions. I'm not really sure this one is particularly good enough, but eh, it's probably fine. Also realized cross-linking my backlog for the same year makes a lot of sense!
