Some of the coolest fucking aesthetics i've seen on a racing game, the ost, the menu, the ships. It reminded me of 90s/early thousand mecha/space anime, with it's blue skies and angular ships. The logo even looks like something out of evangelion or martian successor ndesco or something.

But yeah, the game itself, is very laggy and juddery, it's not completely broken or anything, but it's very noticable. I got this for 1 british pound. So i consider that a worthy price for the vibes alone.

KNOW MY NAME AND FEAR IT. I AM ONSLAUGHT.

deedle-leedle-leeeee~ deeleleleeeee~

hah-ha-hah -BOOM BOOM BOOM-

Between this and Psychic Force, you essentially have the beginnings of DBZ Tenkaichi's style of gameplay.

I do rate this pretty damn high, possibly much of that is nostalgia, but i do think it looks nice, has a good soundtrack, a suprisingly decent story mode for a fighting game from this era.

And i genuinely like the gameplay, it's lots of fun to play with a pal, like i said, you have to really think of it more like a tenkaichi game in a way.

If you beat the game, i believe you unlock dynasty warriors characters for hidden costumes.

This is about as close to realism as koei's warriors series gets. Because of the fairly basic nature, the lack of extra combos and weapons, this game is by far one of the hardest they've made. Your abilities and combos are basically no better or worse than every basic soldier you fight. All you have are better stats. Even crazier, the AI seems more dangerous in this, i swear i've seen them steal my horse.

All in all, it's a pretty interesting experience to go back to this, if you want a really challenging look at how Dynasty Warriors started.

Part of my attempt at testing/listing all ps2 midas games (at least the ones i own, i'm not a masochist).

Why would anyone make a puzzle game with no level music? Just dead silence the whole time, nothing but the sound of the blocks breaking. How do you fuck up Arkanoid?

Part of my ps2 midas games list i'm working on.

Pretty good for a Midas game. Has a nice vibe and music. This game ended up delayed due to 9/11, I can't imagine why.

Added this as part of my attempt at listing all midas ps2 titles.

I like how it's called stealth force, but the screenshot on backloggd features a burning car and a massive machine gun, i might have to play this to see the ending to the war on terror

I'm hoping this review will be of some help to anyone new to this game, or just curious. I'm refusing to put a star rating on this, as i don't think this is one of those games where it's useful.

I wanted to start by talking about the combat, it's one of the things that gets brought up immediately whenever you see this reviewed. I saw many people talking about how bad the combat was in this whenever i looked this up, and most likely, like me, when you read them you assumed this was your standard; "old survival horror games control bad wah wah wah".

When i started playing this, the combat, on first glance, is your standard survival horror stuff, it features silent hill style melee stuff, you hold a trigger and press a button, and your protag swipes left to right.

"Wow, really, this is what people were griping over?" i foolishly said, but all illusions are shattered upon reaching the first boss.

This game, hands down, has some of the worst hitboxes/collision detection i've ever encountered. You often can be hit by enemies facing away from you in this, and to make things worse, your character falls over from 90% of attacks, giving them time to hit you again.

Hearing this, you're probably thinking i hated this game. And i admit, when i encountered moments like this, i really had to fight the urge to give up.

However, i am one of the few people out there who actually owns a physical copy of this, call it weird, or sunk-cost-fallacy but i felt that actually being able to play through this on a physical copy, on the actual PS2 hardware, is a pretty rare thing that not everyone gets to experience. So i played on, and beat it.

This is all immensely helped by the fact that i have a big love for survival horror from this era, and how incredibly unique and interesting the style and story telling in this is, how hard the aesthetic and story telling beats hit. I really don't want to spoil it, and i encourage emulating (save states would really help), or watching a playthrough.

The soundtrack is the most distinctive thing i've ever heard, i've never seen a horror game do this style since, and it's honestly fantastic.

I could go on and on, but my main thrust is this:

This game is a real diamond in the rough. There's something extremely cool and groundbreaking in this, but you really have to persevere through some irritating gameplay to get to it. I don't feel comfortable rating this as some 5/10, or something, as it really doesn't do it justice. Numbers don't really communicate just how high the highs are, and how low the lows are in this.

Anyway, i hope this gets ported some day, with the hitboxes fixed.

Puts literally every game ever made to shame.

I actually got to play this on the arcade machine itself, even better, it was set up in the same building as the cinema I'd just been to see the silent hill movie at. So you can imagine how mind blowing that was.

The game isn't exactly very silent hill, but for some reason, i afford light gun games the benefit of the doubt, regardless of the property they're based on. They exist in a different reality to regular games, where everything must be communicated to you quickly, excitingly, and with some cool visuals and flashing words on the screen.

I remember a cruise liner? Pyramid head? The striped dog/cat things and the bugs?

Jeff Goldblum stars in this as a vampire.

If you really have some heavy nostalgia for the 90s tv show, and also coincidentally love first person point and click adventure games, this will probably do something for you. God knows where you could actually play it though.

My pal got me to play this, as it's free, i've never played the first game, but i've known about generally, that it's sort of a TF2ish thing mixed with WoW design elements.

I'm enjoying the gameplay, it's fun enough, but jesus christ, i think this is the worst battle pass / monetization i think i've ever seen. Makes Fortnite look progressive.

Does to firefighting what time crisis did to shooting people.

You chop boxes with a fireaxe, you put out fires, you see a person to save and a disembodied voice says "SAVE THEM", and then they thank you like a House of the Dead NPC.

Perfect game, no notes.

I'd play way more sports games if they randomly had Heihachi, Xiaoyu, Sophitia and Raphael in them.
