This is one of my favorite games ever, and definitely a champion among JRPGS. It has excellent battle mechanics, loveable characters, and a good premise: powerless people getting back at abusive and corrupt adults.

It is an improvement on the original vanilla game in every way, especially with the new third-semester arc and the addition of Goro Akechi's confidant. Kasumi and Maruki are wonderful additions as well, and all three characters are spectacularly written.

I can't justify giving it five stars though, because the story is well-written until it isn't. At points, the game has times where the characters act out-of-character for the sake of the plot. Also, while each thief is an amazing character on their own, the game struggles with making them feel like anything more than co-workers in regard to their relationships with each other.

I critique because I love. Persona 5 Royal is truly an amazing game, especially compared to the original base game.

Good game but it gets tedious after a while. The fundamentals are strong, and the gacha rates aren't too bad. The artifact, resin system and lack of endgame content is what's holding it back the most.

The lore is intentionally vague to a frustrating degree and drip-fed to players in small amounts throughout the year by using character's birthdays. The gacha system actually sucks and all of the players are very annoying. Genuinely a very fun game to play with friends, and that's its greatest appeal to me. I play this game every day btw.

These games are why I am the way that I am.

One of the best opening cases in the entire series, and although the last case feels a bit anti-climactic, the mystery is as complex and clever as expected. The new characters in this game are a wonderful addition, and it's a shame that the games after this one try to erase it's most interesting plot-points.
