10/10 music
0/10 gameplay
even though the game looks amazing and sounds perfect, the lack of maps and the dated gameplay mechanics made me very mad during the completion of this game, talking specifically about the last segments of ys II, shrine of solmon is probably the most confusing to navigate, all that without a map, even when I tried using the illustarted map on GAME FAQ it was waaay too convoluted and just not fun.
That being said, I am still listening to its BGM on spotify, its perfect, but the game itself isnt good, frustrating even.
Story is nothing special, defeat darkness to free all demons from the land.
Super excited to finally play the better games of the ys series, because this one aged terribly.

Making this game for the DS was a huge mistake, the controls just dont work, no auto locking making the game more frustrating than it needs to be, hand cramping is very real especially if you use original hardware like me.
This game supports the rumble pak, and playing this game on the first model of DS was nice, each time you get damage you feel the rumble working, but what's most impressive is the rumble enhancment of the cgi cutscenes when there are big explosions, so this is cool.
Overall I had a very bad time with the game, copy pasted areas, only 2 normal bosses copy pasted 4 times each.
Final boss was a breath of fresh air with his 2 phases if you go for the true ending, best thing about him is that you dont need to run away with a timer, something you do after each boss and that too is one of the terrible decisions the devs decided to implement, the runaway sequences with a set timer.
The hunters were just there with their bad AI, if you get defeated by them while figuring out the terrible controls, they steal your octolith so you need to defeat them to retrieve it, so that's... cool I guess?
I dont recommend playing this game, its a novel thing having a metroid "kinda" prime game on a ds, but nothing more than this, they shouldnt have made this game for the DS in the first place.

My favorite of the prime trilogy, all thanks for getting the option to get pickup icons if you launch the satelites from the sky city, had the most fun towards the end game when I had all of the powers so I could collect all of the missles, energy tanks and other pickup upgrades, and yet I still ended up with 97% because one map didnt have those helpful icons.
End game was stressful as hell, no save points, just run through the final dungeon with the phazon meter while solving puzzles, fight dark samus, fight Auroroa, all in one go without saving, that was old school stressful gaming lol
Overall a good game, and a good entry to end the trilogy.
