The Mega Man Zero/ZX games can vary a lot between each other, while keeping the action side scroller formula intact. Showing clear signs of improvement and changes over the time. By the time of Advent it wasn't enough, it didn't sold well and the ZX lines of games got disscontinued by Capcom.

The best one all around. The most feature complete as well and being the best representative of what the Zero games are.
Metroidvania + Mega Man sounds like a good idea. In execution this game didn't do enough justice.

An improvement over the first game, but with overly frustrating level design
Not much sticks out with this one. It's alright, better and worse than ZX pretty much.
It does feel like a filler episode, being this the last one. It ended with a bang but that's it.
Basic at it gets. The base level fundation for the rest of the games being really rough around the edges in most if not all aspects.
