One of the best Pokemon games in the whole franchise! The amount of things you can do in this game are endless, and introduce awesome additions and communication features that was the peak of pokemon gameplay.

"We don't need another Yellow remake!"

Speak for yourself, I loved travelling with my squeak squeak. My round bububu. Little angry mouse squishy.

Lovely experience that introduced customization and clothes that has been brought back in several future installments as well, as well as giving us fairy types and changing the typeset of many old pokemon- making them competitive ready.

Sadly the story is not one many remember.

Massive improvement upon Black/White 2. New areas, polished and transformed gyms, good Kyurem introduction, and fresh protagonists to expand the lore of the first games.

An abundance of exploration with so many new shinyhunting methods introduced and welcomed to help people acquire their favorite pokemon. A treasure, since this was the last time they decided to give us the ability to shinyhunt most of our legendaries via soft reset.

I have spent so much time in this game, and it is easily one of my favorites. 900+ hours in (just like ORAS) I find new things to explore and enjoy. Always a beauty to revisit the lovely pixel art now absent in the franchise.

Giant improvement from RBY! The introduction of Shiny Pokemon was my favorite part. Few pokemon games nail the perfect balance between challenge and fun, and Crystal is one of them.

No Pikachu to keep you company? Also Downgrade.

No Pikachu to keep you company? Downgrade.

A classic. Especially if you glitch your way through it and explore areas with the mindset to see just how far the pokemon franchise has come.

Some of the most fun I've ever had with a pokemon game. Unfortunately, the lore and story never came to a satisfying conclusion, giving you little answers to why Arceus summoned you to Hisui, and what motivated each person to take the actions they had taken. The 3 stars are all based on how much I was itching to complete the pokedex and hunt shinies, but after completing all the quests and catching all pokemon... there is really not much else to do or explore.

If you are not used to FP dungeon crawlers, please consider enduring adapting your playstyle for this game. If you have played Persona 1, think of the gamestyle as somewhat similar, but far improved.

Narratively, this is the most consistent, beautiful, and well-executed story in the persona franchise. It's working on the foundation of persona 3 and 4, but unlike PQ2, the foundation for this game is not a complete rip-off of the original games, but rather a pleasant blend between the two that creates a new story from established lore.

The new main characters: Stay consistent and never stray from their beliefs, while also awakening to new feelings and convictions along the way. The other persona users all get their own events that give new flavor to their characters. Be it that they are goofy or heartfelt, they all have something interesting to tell you in this game. As you uncover more about your new teammates, you get attached and want to see them succeed. A lot of amazing sidequests and dialogue exists in this game, and I urge everyone to explore all quests.

The lobby: Is important to enter at all times. Unlike PQ2, these events will NOT stay in your lobby forever. The passage of time in PQ is reflected in the mazes they travel through, and are not similar to movie tickets. If you do not explore a conversation, consider that conversation lost forever. However, this also gives you the ability to bond and grow with your cast as you explore, theorize and speak with everyone, and lets you spot hints and foreshadowing along the way if you are trying to figure out what is going on. A new event will always be available (usually) when you reach a new floor in every labyrinth. Make sure to read them before moving on to the next one/fighting the boss.

The message: Perfectly blends P3 and P4's themes in a way I consider superior to both P3 and P4 (keeping only the best of both games, removing the bad), giving us two routes that let us know different things about the main characters as well as varying hints and foreshadowing. The events are also different, giving you the view from the investigation team's perspective (with their own quests) and the S.E.E.S members.

The conclusion: Is one of the best in the entire series (if not the best). You are given a map to fill out at the start of the game, which is the same map you offer them in return for reaching a well-earned ending. Your journey is then displayed on the end credits, showing the maps you've drawn for each maze and the effort you put through traveling and exploring with Zen and Rei.

The new characters, Zen & Rei: Are the best written characters in the Persona spinoffs. Given their limited time to shine, the authors and art directors did not miss a beat with their relationship. There is no way you can play this game and come out of it thinking these two are not important to each other.

The message: Is worth every last painful maze. If I could play this game blind again, I would absolutely do it. If you love stories with amazing hints and foreshadowing, interesting characters and bonds, lovely music and environment that all artistically matches the main cast and their feelings/past/journey, this is absolutely a must-play.

Strong start, stagnant middle, slow, unsatisfying finish. Nice ride, but breaks its own rules for the sake of plot convenience. Great ideas with poor execution in some areas. Some which Royal has fixed at this point.
