A bit of a mixed bag - especially in the second half - but honestly, I had a really fun time with this and basically got what I wanted from it

Ryuki is my new skrunkly

A really solid addition to "very short itchio visual novels that are about a conversation between two people", one of my favourite genres

Ehhh - maybe worth picking up if you liked Planetarian, but if you haven't played that Key visual novel, you should try that one instead, since Harmonia goes for a similar setting and vibe, but is much more hollow

The first half stumbles a long at a weird pace, and characters end up feeling hollow anyway because the story prescribes them a single emotion they aren't really allowed to deviate from

The second half picks things up a bit but the plot twists are really easy to guess, especially when the cast is so small. You can really tell that this visual novel wants to have a dramatic, emotional ending but its put no effort in to earn it so while I got a bit invested towards the end, I could only bring myself to care so much

Good music and visuals but sadly, just kind of boring and hollow, especially compared to Key's other works

I'm a huge sucker for mid-late 2000s internet nostalgia and goddamn does this hit me right in the feels

Extremely surreal, not very coherent, kinda felt like being hit with a baseball bat

A very short, sweet, sincere visual novel and an eerily accurate depiction of grief - a good read if you don't mind spending an hour about to cry

Yeesh, what a mess of a visual novel - I truely don't know how to rate this. There are parts that are really good, there are good ideas, but G-Senjou can't help but shit itself fairly often. Truely the American Horror Story of Visual Novels

I think this G-Senjou is a prime example of how common visual novel tropes can really drag the medium down. For example, this is a thriller mystery formatted like a slice of life dating sim, in that you have 5 chapters total. Each chapter has a general plot that ties into the overall story, and ends with the player given a choice, as to whether they want to pursue a specific girl or not. If you do, you're then locked into her route before moving onto the next chapter. It's really weird as well because the girls then sorta disappear as the next chapter focuses on someone else - this is especially jarring with Tsubaki who plays such a major role in chapter 1 (and I would say is one of the most compelling characters), before fading into the background for the rest of the story

The cat and mouse/Death Note-esque mind games stuff is really good but like many visual novels, the story has stop itself constantly to do slice of life stuff so the pacing ends up feeling wonky, especially since not many of the characters are intended to be likeable (another perverted best friend character as well zzzz)

And also don't get me started on That controversial twist towards the end that every discussion. I will say though, the last few hours of the VN after that are...kinda enjoyable? The epilogue was also pretty good and definitely helped my enjoyment

So yeah, not amazing, not terrible, not sure why it's in VNDB's top 50

A really neat little Bitsy poem!

Seventh Lair is an April Fool's visual novel that takes the characters from House In Fata Morgana and places them into a new world with new backstories.

I normally don't care for parody/joke visual novels but I loved this, and it does include the usual sincere/heartbreaking Fata Morgana magic later on. Look past the somewhat rough presentation and fan game feel of everything, and you'll have a good time with great characters and a story that isn't as one dimensional as initially presented

When it comes to Square Enix, you never know if you're going to get something like the Portopia Serial Murder Case demo...or something absolutely wonderful like Paranormasight. This was geninuely an absolute delight to play through!

Although there are moments of characters recollecting information you already know just like every other VN, the pacing is generally very good with the snappy 10-12 run time. The characters are compelling (Tsutsumi, Harue and Richter were my biggest faves <3) and geninuely make it hard to choose who's path you wanna go down first. There's a lot of really quirky gimmicks with the 360 environment rotation and some meta elements, however they do take a bit of a backseat after the more horror focused first chapter. It is a bit disappointing but I think the rest of the game is strong enough to make up for it

Honestly, my only issue is that the true ending may be a bit disappointing or feel rushed, but I mean, at this point, I kinda expect that from Visual Novels hghdahsdjas

Heartwarming, cute and has some fun moments with the Bitsy engine

A solid gamepass co op roguelike - kinda janky, not super balanced but a good switch off game that tickles the part of the brain that enjoys seeing a number go up

Fewprime has once again made feel like I've been hit with a baseball bat

A very cute and enjoyable story, but has no options to speed up text or allow the player to autofill lines by clicking like most visual novels. This means the experience is a lot more slow and tedious than it ever should've been, which is really offputting
