As someone who has never played the original at the time of this review, I loved this, the story, the characters (as quirky as the some of the designs are), the visuals and music, all incredible.
The gameplay is not my favorite of all time, but it was great nevertheless, I can see why the original is held in such high regard, and this remake should be too.

I acknowledge this game as a cornerstone of the 3D horror genre, but as a PlayStation 1 horror game without a camera and with tank controls, alongside the inanimate faces and lackluster voice acting, it has not aged well at all.
It's redeeming qualities are the atmosphere, both visually and audibly, as well as the enemy designs and concepts, but those just level out the score for me, 3 stars would imply I enjoyed my time.
