Easily some of the most addicting strategy gameplay I've ever experienced.

The break, smash, and Engage mechanics are beyond addictive to experiment with, and the animations and art style pay off that effort with gorgeous visual flare. All that alongside a story which, while not incredibly ambitious, is still (ignore the pun) engaging and keeps you hyped as it goes through its motions of war and friendship.

It all comes together into a firework of a game, and is the perfect Fire Emblem celebration.

Storycels be seething over gameplaychads

Honestly the most fun I've had with FE gameplay in a while

I especially appreciate how this is the best Armor Knights have felt to use in decades
The toned down skill system is a lot more fun to engage with in comparison to how bloated Three Houses and Fates felt

Engage as a mechanic is fun but ultimately a little too broken in some instances since it allows for very quick kills once a boss enters enough units range (at least on Hard anyway I'm still in the middle of a second run on Maddening)

The story is exactly what it needs to be and is good despite people thinking 'corny' is inherently bad (it's not) I think trying to compare this to Three Houses writing wise is doing both a disservice since both are very different games tonally and are trying very different things as well

Supports are essentially a 50/50 on if you're gonna get something good (Pandreo) or something bad (Celine)

My biggest criticisms of the game would be gold being too hard to come by outside of the large hand outs they give you after specific story moments (this might be a fault of mine though in regards to my constant staff abuse / buying and trying to figure out good donation usage) and the lack of weapon durability takes away from making sure you don't just only rely on 2 or at most 3 weapons per character

Also Chapter 24 can kiss my ass

Legit great game from a gameplay standpoint.

Can't wait to replay it and the story is legit not bad and avoids alot of the trappings of a crossover/anniversary game can do. Writing is fucking hilarious from the good and bad the characters are legit weirdos and love them

Also Alear might be a top tier MU and even lord.

After so many years of wanting to play this game and I just had to accept that I couldn't play it and my only memory of it was playing the Wii version when I was a 9 year-old, I was so glad to find out that the game was completable in Xenia (outside of a few visual glitches). Still, I’ve played Unleashed Project some time ago and I thought it was outstanding, but that was only (almost) half of the experience.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, since I heard an incredibly high amount of different opinions about every part of this game, and to my surprise, almost none of the major problems everyone has with this game affected my experience in any way. The Werehog being the biggest surprise for me. I found these God of War-esque, exploratory, toned down levels incredibly enjoyable in tandem with the superb boost formula, which I think peaked here.

Big reason for these stages to capture me so much are the visuals and music presentation. Finishing a battle, calming down to take a breath, or just admiring the scenery with the silence that follows for a few seconds, and having the music slowly fade in again is one of the small joys that I found playing this game. There were some levels that this was more prevalent than others, Jungle Joyride Night was the prime example of how breathtaking the visuals of this game can be. A far away corner of the world where the night still has a little bit of spark of light, where the deep blue transforms into a thin purple and you are guided by the torches and green lanterns by the docks and little islands, it feels magical. I stopped more than a few times to just see the beautiful world that Sonic was exploring, and the small platforming bits with cool set-pieces like the clock tower you climb in Rooftop Run or the ice slides of Cool Edge were so fun to experience, I just felt mesmerized by this world. This helped me clear the night stages with almost no medal misses, and I didn’t need to replay any stage to get the requirements, even though I think that's probably me having a collectionist problem of wanting to collect everything in every platformer (I cannot replay Banjo without 100% it again). Still, I think the medals required to beat the game should be lowered, the game wouldn’t suffer from it.

Although I wanted to stop and explore the world with the Werehog stages, I didn’t want to stop at all in the day stages. 7th gen aesthetics are at its prime here and it shows, even if the frame rate was sacrificed for it. Every shader possible applied to every piece of terrain making ShinyGrass™ or ShinyRock™ , the primitive real time shadows, the comically high amount of bloom and blur, I just found it cozy and weirdly nostalgic, even having never owned a 360 or a PS3. I doubt I have something interesting that hasn’t been said about these levels, but I still want to say that these are the most fun I had with a Sonic game in a veeeery long time. I'm still on the way to beat every day stage in S rank but the few I've done made me wish this ranking system was present in more boost games.

The biggest pillar of the game is definitely the music. It’s more than obvious that this game’s music is something special, with every piece crafted with an extremely unique vibe that matches the part of the world it tries to represent with a unique twist, this truly is something special. The bossa-nova flair mixed with DnB of Windmill Isle Day with clear blue skies and white and blue greek architecture, the trance induced tropical track of Jungle Joyride Day running across the bluest-est water I’ve seen in a game with falling ruins, the punk rock violin of Rooftop Run Day grinding a rail to the bottom of the clock tower while having a 360º view of all of Spagonia. This game is such a vibe man. The night stages are not far behind the quality of the day stages, giving these cozy, smooth jazzy tunes like the acid jazz groove of Windmill Isle Night or Savannah Citadel Night, or the powerful bass and tubular bells of Cool Edge Night with its shiny blue ice illuminating the cold frozen lands. I just love this soundtrack to death and enhanced a TON my overall experience and it clearly wouldn’t be the same without it. Shoutouts to Endless Possibility for being one of the best vocal themes in all of Sonic and almost making me cry upon hearing it because it made me come back 9 years ago to when I finished Unleashed Wii and hearing it over and over on Youtube.

I obviously have some nitpicks about the game, like Eggmanland being kind of underwhelming and weirdly designed and also too long if you don't know the stage beforehand, or Tails and Amy disappearing from the story despite being there at all times. But I don’t really mind them, this is a clear case of the positives outweighing the negatives by a long mile, at least for me.

This is one of the most important pieces of media I’ve experienced in a long time, blasting with style and soul in every corner of its rough edges, crusted by the media at the time of its release and held together thanks to a passion for the blue blur.

Thank you, Sonic,

the average girl's night out

If any negative reviews for this game mention 06, Boom, or "rough transition into 3D" at all, do not trust the person who made that review.

Wow, at long last! Freedom Planet 2! I loved the first game! Which I played....

...seven years ago...

Yeah...the hell happened guys? I remember first seeing the announcement trailer back in late 2015, I was pretty damn hype! I subbed to GalaxyTrail's twitter for updates even! A demo was released in 2017, everything seemed like it was going smooth! Then delays happened, it was pushed from 2018 to 2019...then....nothing. Static. Barely if any updates whatsoever, anything their twitter posted was either for Petal Crash (their other game) or retweets of fanart. Seriously, what was going on? Was there a gamebreaking bug? Was the creator going through some shit? Tell us something!

Anyways...I played as Lilac for my first playthrough, because she's the only girl. No offense to the others, I just have a thing for purple dragons apparently. I like her redesign in this game, it helps to separate her even more from being a generic She-Sonic, it's pretty easy to tell that there's some Mega Man X stuff going on there with her color scheme. Something something, growth and maturity yadda yadda. Sorry, I'm doing that thing where I just yack in my reviews again. Lilac is really fun just like she was in the first game, and I really enjoy the new guard/parry button which makes this game remind me of Alien Soldier now. Which isn't a bad thing at all. If you have terrible skills, there's an auto-guard feature that will help you out, and I think it's on by default for easy mode. Speaking of, those who have played FP1 are probably wondering if the second half will get terrifying at all. The answer at least from my perspective? Kinda? I will say the final boss is nothing compared to pre-patch Brevon from the last game, so if you're worried about getting two-shot in five seconds then worry not. Unless you're playing hard mode maybe, I guess. Play on easy if you're still unsure, no one's judging you and fuck'em if they do.

The story mode is okay I feel this time around, but my opinion might not be the most trustworthy, because I actually didn't mind the one in FP1 either. The voice acting is better though for sure, the only character who really annoyed me was Carol during the first half, but she kinda mellowed a bit at least later, and I'm not gonna count Aaa since they're supposed to be annoying. A word of warning though, classic mode is only unlocked after a run is completed so you'll still need to be pausing and hitting the skip button if you get tired of all the talking later. It's been so long that I actually forgot if it was like that in FP1 too. Sean Chiplock has come a long ways.

If I have one big complaint, it's that the game is WAY too long. Holy shit, checking my playtime compared to mine in FP1 it's like roughly double the amount. Granted, I did idle a bunch. There's also a chance that's on me for trying to marathon this game today, there's just been a few times where I was like "oh god please don't tell me the final stage is four stages like in the last one". Ancestral Forge is also an awful slog of a level, I think I logged in like 20 minutes on that stage and I still got a B ranking on it. I'm asking GalaxyTrail to stop doing dumb drawn out puzzle stages and focus on speed and combat, please! I actually got offended when they did a callback to it in one of the final stages.

Compared to the first game, I feel it's climax isn't as cool, but maybe that was because the final boss was a pushover this time around. They really got scared of people complaining about the final fight this time around I guess. I encountered a bunch of odd bugs once in a while too, especially in the second half, but as of this post it feels like they patched the game four times already since release, so it's not like they're unaware of them and nothing that happened to me was gamebreaking or anything sans me glitching past a gate I probably wasn't supposed to. I digress though, WHAT WAS GOING ON THE LAST THREE YEARS!!!!!????

Dragon Noises

DON'T DO IT AGAIN FOR FP3!

Phew...anyway, cool game. Dunno when I'll try Milla or Neera, fuck Carol. Gimme a week of more trashware and I'll probably come back to this once I've cooled off. Also, for the love of god every game release should be legally required to sell or come with a digital download of their damn ost, I beg of ya.

no se merece un 5 ni de coña pero me ha gustado hasta ese nivel. deberia llamarse scrimblo racing btw

Am I going to have to smack a bitch, seriously? Someone tell Alia to shut the fuck up. She NEVER stops talking in this game. I am playing Mega Man X games to play a fast paced action platformer, not to hear this bitch speak and kill the momentum of the game completely. Fuck this game
