Played this as a BABY and was my introduction to Final Fantasy and JRPG's as a whole back on the SNES. Coincidentally I can remember owning 2 SNES Final Fantasy games and trying to decide which to play first, This or Final Fantasy II (IV) and I chose Mystic Quest because I assumed it was the first one and I couldn't start with the one that had 2 in the title.

I don't know man I liked it as a literal child, the game was aimed towards kids like me and even if I was to go back today I think I'd be able to get at least something out of it, even if it's not the deepest thing in the world.

good game that is wildly overrated. mario feels good to control, but the level design rarely takes advantage of this and places you in obstacle courses consisting of flat, grassy plains with the occasional hill or drop. good if you're unfamiliar with mario, but compared to other 2D titles there's not really much reason to go back to it. some really inconsistent spritework as well, though the OST is excellent and has one of the best credit themes of all time. mario 3 blows it out of the water.

Honestly it'd have been a 4.5, but the Goron minigames are so freaking annoying.

Going back and forth in time is just such a cool mechanic. It's wonky at times but it's fun

This game is a bloody masterpiece. You MUST play it if you're even a slight fan of Metroidvanias. It might feel slow and boring at first but as you get more abilities, the game opens up and becomes an incredible piece of art. I haven't felt this way since I first played the Metroid games.

In my top 5 games ever made.

almost 112% it stuck in p3/p4/p5

Just buy this game and experience this masterpiece.

Walk tall, my friends.
