This is the only Far Cry game I had any passing interest in really, and thats because I wanna be a caveman! I tried Far Cry 3 but didn't really get into it, but I did get into this one. After the intro portions, once you start actually getting to play, I thought it was dope. Cavemen don't have phones or radios so they don't get to blab at me during the world exploration and I just get to exist in the past.
I saw a review that just said to turn the UI off to get like fully immersed and I don't think I could do that for a series I'm totally new to and have no previous context for how things work, but I did turn the minimap off, and I did wish I turned some other things off but whatever. Never really felt that need in any other game, but cavemen don't have waypoints (I needed them though).
I DID Have a problem in that this game has ... DETECTIVE VISION! I hate that shit man, and I'll complain everytime I have to deal with it. Detective Vision is must need for games in the high fidelity age where pickups just blend in with the world, I get it. The problem I have is that it always dims the world so I don't get to look at the visuals before me intended half the fucking game. I would like if the pick ups were just more vibrant so the world wasn't dimmed to make them contrast.
Also I think the stealth in this game kind of blows, very easy to get detected and then the world cascades upon you.
Overall though, I think its fun for a brain off open world.
