"i want to make a movie so painfully obvious in its satire that everyone who understands it lives in perpetual psychological torment inflicted on them by all the people who don't."
HD2 nails the satire in every way. The game is still rough around the edges, but this has the potential to be something so much bigger. The gameplay takes getting used to, but practice makes perfect. It is a very specific game and not everyone will enjoy it. I think what holds this game back the hardest is the nature of grinding for medals to unlock more equipment.
It has a great gameplay loop, but for me personally, I cannot play as long of sessions at the average person. It is still a lot of fun and the devs are amazing.

The pacing in regards to the gameplay and the overall story is absolutely horrendous. I do find it to be an improvement on the original but the combat cannot decide if it wants to be turn based or action.
It's a good story, with some incredible character design. But oh my god it is a slog to get through. You have to wait for everything. Every minor action is a small cutscene. The game forces the player to play a certain way, and that involves 60% of the walking to be dreadfully slow.
I think a hearty JRPG length is about 50-60 hrs, but FF7R sits at about 25hrs that feels so much longer, and not in a good way. The game will test your patience much more often than your skill.
