This was a solid experience, first game that introduced styles as well, which was fun to play with for sure. So far easily the strongest story even if it isn't the most amazing thought provoking story.

Honestly this is where I'd recommend anyone start playing dmc from, then again I haven't finished 4 yet which might change my opinion. A really really strong game for sure.

Honestly, this game is really just a joke, not really a good one either, I see why people think this game is as bad as it is, and really the only thing that was overly egregious was how they butchered Dante's character at least imo.

Then again for the old dmc games and having to restart the mission entirely unless you had a yellow orb wasn't ever a good thing, I would have much prefered if it was like restart where you were standing or scrap that and you spawn in the room you just entered.

Anyways a bad game for sure.

Holy old game, combat is fun, but god damn starting a level over from the beginning just from dying is ridiculously backwards, I pray to god they remake this game, cause not having to restart from the start of a mission + no more finger breaking E & I + the game might actually look good it'd be an overall plus.

That being said, I played on easy, or easy auto same shit, still had a good time, wish I could have actually played on normal but restarting the level from the start is a ridiculous amount of tedium I don't want to invest myself into.

Give it a go, game was pretty fun, would recommend to others.

This game is honestly goated.

I remember vaguely playing it for hours just riding around, trying to play the game but struggling to progress past I think lisa's area.

Honestly this is more of a trying to remember how it was type review rather then an actual review, may not stand the test of time who knows.

This is an amazing game. (Atm) I've given a grand total of one other game a 5/5, sadly in terms of that I don't think it comes close to the other game I gave that score. But this game is easily 5/5 material.

Visuals: which are phenomenal, games with this sort of cel-shaded style, I always think very highly of, and this game uses that to it's utmost to create such striking and distinct areas filled with so much color to convey the life these areas have, or when trying to convey the opposite, a darker atmosphere, this artstyle just fits so well and does so phenomenally.

Music: I'd say sadly isn't playlist worthy, it's a fantastic soundtrack, but nothing I could bop to in day to day life, it easily helps add emotion to scenes one in particular it does so very well with. But even so I'd say while it doesn't add to my final score it doesn't detract from it either.

Gameplay: Easily the best part of this game, probably some of the most fun I've had in a puzzle game without it being frustratingly tedious or specific. It's a game inherently about language and that's pretty much within the entire premise of the game from start to finish, and communication between peoples. The gameplay is simplistic rather it uses puzzles involving language to push the game forward, and as well your own deductive reasoning, using contextual clues from conversation to words displayed on walls as warnings, events, instructions, it all fits into the world very nicely while also serving as more ways to interact with the mechanics revolving around language. Oh and just like in the game I'll leave a small footnote at the bottom to mention that this game has stealth mechanics, yeah they're aight, not the main driving force of the game, just kind of there.

Story: Now personally I think this game really hardly has any besides the world going on around you, there is no real objective given to you outside of your own curiosity (At least that was what I got from it) and it's your own curiosity that drives the game forward, only near the end does it kind of show the semblance of a story, but even then it isn't the best "story" story, it's more like sending a message about a negative thing we as people do, which I won't dive into due to spoilers. All things considered I'd sort of roll story and gameplay into one, as it very much is more about the enjoyment of the game rather then telling a deep and engaging story.

In Conclusion: This game is amazing, easily a 5/5, one of if not the best puzzle game I've played so far. This game just flows so well, it only took me like 3 or 4 play session to finish but it was like a really well portioned meal, I feel like I got all I wanted out of the time I played with a couple more achievements left over from me getting to the end. Doesn't overstay it's welcome, doesn't introduce weird and convoluted mechanics, it sticks to it's core gameplay it introduces and does so excellently.

Finally done; tl;dr games good, arts good, story's good, music is playlist worthy, dumb characters being dumb doesn't make for any more interesting a plot point, BTB is like some of the worst gameplay I've played in a game before. I'll warn for spoilers later in the review btw.

Don't wanna spend too long typing up a long review, I was like almost done with my first one but my progress didn't save.

Art and music:
Honestly really good, it looks like a psp game but it has the willingness to make it work, characters are like cardboard cut-outs and backgrounds are kinda like diorama type things, it makes good use of the hardware and doesn't actually look all that bad even today. (Some of the cutscenes with the 3d-ish look a bit crunchy, but besides those we chilling.)

And the music is good too, honestly, imo playlist worthy, that's what I'd consider highest marks. Sure a game can have a super orchestral or maybe super emotionally gripping sound track that enhances the experience, those songs are good too, really good. But being able to listen to a song in daily life? Let it be the background of whatever you're doing? I love listening to game music, and at least DR1 music as joined alongside other game osts.

Story:
I had to try to separate my knowledge from a prior playthrough to the one I did now, I vaguely knew what was going to happen, but it had been years so it was still worth a playthrough. I will admit, the story had me interested even though I knew the plot points going forward. A desperate struggle to attempt to survive, coexist or escape from a situation like this, each individual character interaction, a lot of dialogue didn't feel forced but still gave characters opportunities to interact. Individual free time hang outs were kind of one note, like just trying to convey one concept for a story and that's it. But they aren't the main meat and potatoes of the game, so I can give that a pass. Game's story is good, not exceptionally great, but solid, enjoyable imo at the the very least.

Class trials: (Spoilers from here btw)
I consider this section of the game to be almost entirely seperate bar maybe the story, this is where gameplay really comes into play because the "gameplay" that is in during free time and even investigations is just visual novel style gameplay, I.E not really gameplay more of a vessel to facilitate the player to experience the story. Class trials are serviceable, they get the job done. Broken down it's a series of minigames which serves as the second big part of the "detective" portion of the game.

Most times questions aren't too asinine during the multiple choice section, but it's more so a logic problem.

Non-stop debates are fun (minus absorbing statements.)

Hangmans gambit is certainly a minigame, it's not overly hard since you can just pause and attempt to figure out the word then shoot the letters and bam, answer found.

Climax reasoning was the easiest for me but that's cause I remember it the most vividly, all up it's a fun mini game, I make-a da manga.

And now onto the big stinker, the yucky yucky, BTB's, or MTBs, basically the rhythm game minigame. These things suck, omega bad. I don't know whether spike chunsoft like botched the code behind this minigame, or if it was this bad on the psp, but why do my hits sometimes just not register? Plus they're honestly too much visually, the statements fluctuating in size as the approach sort of pulsing in and out is just distracting. Plus the constantly changing bpm coupled with negative mode makes it really really hard to tell when to press, so it's pretty much the designated use fenzy portion. All of that would be fine, if you didn't take so much god damn damage. Missing timing on one beat or losing it during negative mode means that I just watch my hp trip and fall down a flight of stairs. Which wouldn't be an issue if they decided to make it so every BTB was at the end maybe, increase the difficulty and make it a last challenge where you're rewarded with a more forgiving minigame if you did well. But having to do like 3 BTBs during the 4,5 and 6th iirc trials was a nightmare.

Plus certain moments made me so unbelievably upset at the game. Like Takas fucking wrist watch, where I had to use some roundabout absorbing a statement instead of using that piece of evidence, only to later have to either answer a multiple choice question or present evidence which was Taka's wristwatch. (This happened a couple times, including times when I had to absorb statements, my memory is a bit foggy on this part though.)

Plus this could be me being too reliant on just remembering how things go, but like 5/6 times when the discussion shifted to accusing someone I didn't know why it changed to accusing someone, so I'd put in the culprit who I knew ahead of time and it'd be correct. Maybe I just zoned out cause I was getting bored though.

In conclusion:
Good game, good first game as well, I'm gonna try to play through dr2 but for some reason starting dr2 makes me just feel bored. I'll try to muscle through till I actually start getting interested. I'm hopeful that spike has also made the rest of the minigames better in later games - especially BTBs - though I've heard legend about hangmans gambit. Also I gotta finish school mode and 100% the game, so I might change my mind, but school mode is basically just all vn stuff really.

Very, very interesting story. Certainly not my favorite though, whether it be social link or character interaction-wise, certainly a great entry into the persona franchise, but I dunno, nothing hit exceptionally well unlike the other two social sim games.

Visuals are average, minus the actually drawn art, due to this being a vita port, admittedly somethings are quite charming that the game does, like when answering exam questions if you get the highest result on the last day the game states "You answer question after question, your pen is on fire!" Or something to that effect, and the animation that normally plays, is played sped up at like twice the speed.

I guess though, it being remarkably average for a persona game is a plus as there aren't many social links that were boring, and still having some quite amazing side stories in specific social links.

Shoji's done it again but I didn't have any doubt anyways, sound track is definitely playlist worthy

Gameplay feels good, but this felt like the most boring entry by far, tartarus is something I have to lightly grind for as well as full moon's in p3, and palaces felt like they didn't overstay their welcome bar one particular exception.

Plus no super duper easy let me just play through the story mode unlike p4g, say what you will about how dungeon crawling is important to the game I'm gonna use hours I saved not killing the same shadows in a dungeon over and over again to file my taxes or something.

I don't like xcom 2.

2020

My experience with this game, both came at a time when I probably shouldn't have played it, and also very much should have. The message at the end flying far above my head as per usual so I wasn't really left with much other then a smile as the credits rolled. My playthrough followed opening the door, with no real desire to finish a second one.

This game is, beautiful, visually it has two distinct art styles, one for the dream world and one for the real world, the dream world having more children's drawing-esque, magical mind-scape type feel with both the environment and characters. The real world on the other had has a still anime-cartoon like feel but a more grounded vibe, I don't know how better to explain, it looks more, solid?

Sound wise this game really doesn't miss, soundtracks for each boss, which some choice ones are absolute bangers that I occasionally will just listen to on their own, with the initial battle music feeling incredibly fitting for the location you're in, and of course, changing over the course of the game.

And finally, easily the stand out best part of Omori, is the story. I don't even want to explain my feelings in depth because I want anyone that actually took their time to read this far, to go and give the game a try. I just hope that come the end of the game, you can experience the same, happy crying I had when that one particular scene played.

This game isn't dead? Also could you believe that me and my friend played like 30 odd hours just vsing bots? Honestly, I really really enjoyed my time with this game, no intentions to ever play it again but I had my fun, just logging in in and amongst school time just dumpstering bots.

Vs'ing other players though yeah ain't really all that fun, the player base was dried up even when I tried playing this game like 5 years ago, meaning the only players who we'd get matched against would just absolutely destroy us, not really a whole lot of fun.

Excellent visuals, while I didn't enjoy actual pvp I could tell that most of the characters were relatively balanced and had quite diverse kits, if this game had have actually taken off I reckon it would have been an amazing game to play. It's as if you condensed the one good part about league and turned it into a whole game I'm actually kind of shocked as of writing this that league players didn't jump ship to this game.

I am suffering from severe and chronic decision fatigue, and playing this game almost killed me, making any progress just made me feel like a new born baby again and I dunno I didn't enjoy that. Waiting for my Darwin era to truly appreciate this game.

Hardly scratched the surface, but this game is actually really fun, just need the right mixture of high proof alcohol and hallucinogenics and I'll play this game a hell of a lot more.

So god damn complicated, but that's a good thing, when my brain is ready for it I can tell I'll probably get hundreds of hours of enjoyment out of it, and that's not even accounting for mods.

For the average non rick and morty fan though it's hard to recommend, maybe with a friend who's seen all 7 seasons they might be able to guide you through, but otherwise it's tough to recommend.

Definetly not a bad product though don't get that twisted, art's great, solid game, no real story? more like a motivation to continue playing and an end goal but that's no points off in my eyes. If it clicks with you, this game's probably a god-send.

Wait this is an actual game? I was too busy looking at haydee's ass the ground to notice.
