This is exactly how you do a Remake!
You keep everything that made the original good and you modernise it in such a way that you don't ruin the atmosphere and general feeling of the first.
I'm glad they did this remake because i never finished the original from 2002 and it was long overdue.
As for the game itself, classic story, the driving was interesting (not sure if in a good or bad way), and the shooting was kinda meh. I played on Classic difficulty maybe that's why.
They got the feeling of the 30s right

Wet

2009

WET is a nice idea but a bad execution, its one of the games that uses the "piss filter" and it looks really bad.
The story is poor and soulless, the only good thing about the story is Rubi, she looks cool but has a butter personality. The gameplay is good (when it wants to work properly). Let's say its a combination between maybe Stranglehold/Max Payne (the shooting) and Prince of Persia (the wall running and climbing) but its a bit of a stretch.
I liked the 2 chapters on the highway where you jump from one car to another, the sections where Rubi enters in her Rage vision and everything turns Red, White and Black, and... thats about it?
Oh the soundtrack was nice too, i would've went with something more metal to make it feel more alive, but i dig the soundtrack, its alright.
The Platinum was kinda awful because i had to finish the game 5 times and this is not the kind of game you want to ever replay:)))

Everything you could ask for from a new Tekken game. Awesome starting cast of characters, amazing stages with some of the best soundtracks from the whole series. A short, but really great story mode as well. Everything about this game is just an improvement over Tekken 7. For sure the best fighting game out there right now, no question.

Brink

2011

I was 13 when this game came out and it looked like the coolest thing ever. I was really excited for the customization and I hadn't ever seen an FPS with this cool post-apocalypse anarchist aesthetic and I thought it looked really good.

That artstyle has now become extremely commonplace in video games today, and that wasn't the only thing this game pioneered that ALL triple-A studios have now continued to follow: because Brink was also shipped in a state that was completely devoid of content.

Circle of the Moon is good, Harmony of Dissonance is alright, and Aria of Sorrow is incredible and makes the package worth it just by itself. Also, Dracula X is there to make you appreciate Rondo of Blood that much more.

Returnal is the first true next gen experience (other than maybe Astros Playroom) I had, since I was lucky enough to get the PS5 day one. I didn't really expect to play it early on or maybe at all. But the high praise from this community and the atmosphere evident in the trailers made me wanna jump into this.
Returnal is a surprise hit for sure. Even if it's areas are limited, they look beautiful. The sound design is superb and helps give the entire game a cinematic feel, that could fit into the Ridley Scott catalogue easily. You will feel right at home if you're into dark sci-fi horror aesthetics.
It's impressive how the game blends a roguelike gameplay loop with a mysterious story sprinkled in between the runs and areas. It never feels out of place and helps keep the interest even if the repetition of some areas might get tedious for some after a while.
The gameplay itself is what you would expect when you're into the genre. It's roguelike done right, but not perfect. I missed a greater sense of progression I felt in some other games of the genre, that made the losing and repetition of areas feel less like a punishment, but more like an integral part of the experience and getting better. I couldn't help but feel some of the runs I did here to be a complete waste of time because of a little mistake I made at the end. This especially gets frustrating, when you are forced to do multiple areas in one run.
However, if you spend 70+ hours in this game like I did, you will get better of course and you will see a significant difference to your early runs. By the end of grinding I was able to go through the entire game without using more than 1 or 2 resins. I felt extremely powerful as my move set and weapon usage became more and more sophisticated. It felt like playing a third person Doom Eternal in that sense and that's one of the highest compliments I can give. Movement is impeccable - fluid and responsive and perfectly underlined by the haptic feedback of the Playstation 5 controller.
Getting the Platinum and unveiling every bit of story there was to find, was fun for the most part, but ended up being a very heavy grind that will be the last time I go for a trophy that's rng based.
Overall I think I can only recommend Returnal to a certain kind of player. If you know what you're in for and expect to die a lot, than you will definitely have a great time. If not, you should reconsider spending any money on this.
I'm extremely interested in what Housemarquee will come up with next, as their AAA third person shooter roguelike debut is impressive.

This game is an absolute fucking masterpiece and all the hate it has gotten over the past few years is extremely undeserved. With that out of the way, the story imo is sooo fucking good. I think this game topped TLOU1 by a long shot. I loved everything about this game from the gameplay to just... everything. I hate finishing this cause it makes me feel empty but I'm definitely gonna go back for New Game+ and possibly attempt a plat trophy.

If you haven't played this and you feel iffy around the controversy, don't listen to the haters... this game deserves every piece of praise it got.

This game over bitches anytime

Perfect game for me, with great story, visuals and story telling. Very brutal but also packed with emotions. Just like the first part will always have a place in my heart.
