This game dropped right around the time I was very into skateboarding as a kid. It was perfectly timed and I thought it was the coolest dang thing.

I liked the idea for this game more than I liked actually playing it. The aesthetic, the music, just the vibes in general are very much my jam, but it's pretty rough to actually play.

Besides Smash, the only other fighting game I remember playing as a kid were the Power Stone games, and boy did I obsess over Power Stone 2. Unlike platform fighters which totally took off after Smash, we never really saw a fighting game like Power Stone again. Damn shame.

I still think about Skies of Arcadia from time to time. I don't really remember the plot of the game, but I do remember thinking that the overall premise of "pirates but in the the future with flying ships and laser swords" was dope as hell. I didn't play a lot of turn-based RPGs as a kid, but this one was definitely one of my favorites.

Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were the first Sonic games I ever personally owned since I never had a Sega console prior to the Dreamcast, and let me tell you - I loved these games.
Sonic Adventure 2 specifically kicked ass.
But my fondest memory of Sonic Adventure 2 isn't the gameplay, Shadow, or any of other characters. No no. My fondest Sonic Adventure 2 memory is the Chao Garden and being able to play with my Chao on the VMU. That shit ruled. Loved my Chaos.

Is this the best Smash Bros of all time? I don't know.
But it is the best Smash Bros since the previous one!

This is the first non-Smash fighting game I ever personally owned and I literally only bought this because Link was in it.
Still not a traditional fighting game fan but hey Link was pretty cool.

I think this is the only 3D Mario platformer I never actually beat. Or if I did, I don't remember it. I love everything about this game on paper, the aesthetic and music specifically are 100% my jam, but it never was compelling enough for me to finish it as a kid. I'd like to revisit it someday.

Listen I know this isn't very good but I enjoyed it as a kid! Star Fox (one of my favorite games from the N64) plus dinosaurs! Sounds good to me!

From hanging out with the villagers to collecting a bunch of arcade cabinets and making a cool gaming basement, Animal Crossing was truly a special game that I have a lot of great memories of. Crazy how so many staples in the series were present even in the first game, and how many things the first game had that the new ones don't.

I got so into this game that I bought one of those goofy-ass keyboard controllers that's just a normal GameCube controller cut in half with a full QWERTY keyboard inserted into the center of it. It ruled. Also this game was dope.

I don't think I'd necessarily want Double Dash to come back because I wouldn't want to be limited to racing duos, but the idea for this game was pretty cool back in the day.

Yes I had Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix and two dance pads. No I did not keep it. Yes I have looked at the prices on eBay since then and regretted getting rid of it.
This game was absurd. Love seeing Nintendo doing goofy shit like this. Something really great about seeing Mario and Waluigi cutting it up in a dance battle and moving in ways no Mario character has moved since.

I was just a tad too young to own my own SNES growing up, so in high school my best friend and I bought one and a handful of games including Super Mario World. We then spent a month playing the game obsessively, finding every secret, and beating all of Star Road. What a game. 2D Mario games have yet to come anywhere close to the perfection that is Super Mario World.
